is this heat gun good for removing old vinyl self stick tiles

Asked by: Anonymous
Definitely! Anything that has a sticky backer to it can be made easier to remove by heating with this gun. Just be careful not to overheat as you'll be dealing with scorched materials, some smoke, and over-sticky residue left on your sub-floor.

Asked by: Workingdiana
Yes. Just don't actually use it as a blow dryer on your head!

HT1000 1200-Watt Heat Gun is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 93.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My boyfriend loves it! I bought this a week ago today for my boyfriend and he loves it! totally worth the 22 (24 with tax). He uses it mainly to bend PVC piping to make some cool bows and other things. It's cheap but super nice. I recommend this a ton for anyone who wants to do some awesome stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent. We have been using it almost constantly for a few weeks now with no problems. It heats up very quickly which is important because we use it to heat shrink packages.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from time saver and money earner When I purchased this product I was not sure it was what I needed for the job . I soon found out that was and not just for this one job. I has saved me time removing old wall paper and contact paper. And like in the paint area at Home Depot, it helped me dry paint in a fast manner so my clients could use the finished product faster. (i.e. open and close the door). I must say it is a time saver and money maker. Sincerely Jay (satisfied customer)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick heatwave The Ht1000 1200-watt heat gun works well, quick, and with little noise. Very surprising that this heat gun also works on other things such as removing rusted bolts, etc. Perhaps a tad to expensive, but better looking than the upgrade which has controls made that seem could rip off in time due to being made of thin push button style plastic. The HT1000 just has an on and off switch with high and low settings like a typical hairdryer. All in all, very pleased. Go figure since I'm a very picky consumer when it comes to quality and longevity of any purchased product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PVC BENDER I needed to custom bend some pvc conduit fittings....this gun does the job nicely. Have had more potent heat guns, but at twice the price or more. If you need to bend some pvc or shrink up plastic...why spend so much on a heat gun, this one will do the job. Seems pretty sturdy, no bells and whistles, just a good basic affordable heat gun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot hot heat Needed this to apply some heat shrink insulation for wiring. It was inexpensive but heated up quickly and did the job nicely. Note that you may have to find it in the paint section--the alternatives in my local tool aisle were much pricier and more heat gun than I needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Help me take off old linoleum tiles in few rooms... I use that and "Husky Multi tool" scraper 7-in-one attached to the brum stick.... works better than any "pro" floor srapers!
Date published: 2015-09-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well! I used this heat gun as a way to soften linoleum in our bathroom so I could scrap it up for removal. It was a long and tiring task, but this heat gun made all the difference!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works good It warms up fast. Seems to be made well. Price was not high, like some other models. All in all, a good buy for a heat gun.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only worked for 20 minutes before dying.... At first, this seemed like a great heat gun. I was going to use to remove a full car wrap (if you heat the wrap it breaks the glue's bond and it comes off like butter, well almost). It worked very well for about 15 minutes of continuous use. I then used the gun in a new spot for 5 minutes and again it worked great. On the third time I went to fire it up it wouldn't turn on. I thought it might just need to cool off, but it never turned back on. Might have been defective - I'll return and upgrade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Effective and convenient. I use(d) the HT1000 Heat Gun for stripping off paint on musical instruments. It performed the job(s) fairly well on the high setting and heated up in a short time. While using the HT1000 for about 15-25 minutes (No breaks), the metal nozzle distorted to a pearl like finish (Burnt/tarnished in other words). From what I experienced, it has not affected the product in any way other than cosmetics. If you're looking for a heat gun for DIY jobs that won't burn a hole in your wallet, I recommend the HT1000.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but problem I really like now this works but there is a slight problem as there is no way to shield the gun right after use and pack I work on the candles at my church and this gun helps clear the old wax quickly. But, when I finish I have to wait for it to cool which can take a while. I had one before and use to put the heated end in water to cool it quickly. that was stupid as it caused it to rust and ruin. Stupid on my part.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Acessories not included Wagner doesn't include the nozzles or glass protector as necessary to perform certain functions, but this information is not included as a "note" on the box. I bought the heat gun thinking I could open the box and us it without difficulty. I can't find these items on line and if I have to go back to the store to get them, or order them directly from Wagner, I will return the Heat Gun and go to a different brand.
