The mixer will work quite well for driveway sealer. Use a heavy duty, variable speed 1/2 inch drill. Low speed so it will not make a mess.
Just use the 3/4" drill chuck key to tighten it around the 1/2" hex of the tool. Unless I have misunderstood your question, this is not really rocket science.
Not on the one I purchased! all edges smooth. Looks to be a die forging with very little machining.
