When you patch with this method the wall compound WILL raise the surface a bit. That is normal and to be expected. You need to feather the mud out beyond the patch at least 6" or so in order for the 1/16" raised area to be seamlessly transitioned to the rest of the wall. There is no way around this. Unless you have a wall that is in an unusual lighting environment nobody will see it IF you do it right. Make sure you use a good dry wall knife. I would use a 12" one, being sure to keep more pressure on the perimeter and less on the patch itself. I am off to Home Depot now to see where they keep the Sparkle. Sounds like a fun product.
I do not know but the patch kit is very easy to use and worked fantastic.
No. Too flimsy.
I use regular sharp scissors. Aluminum is very thin.
This exact product says indoors only. But there are outdoor patches for sale too
It would be difficult. The area would need to sanded flat. Then the patch applied then the knockdown texture would need to be applied over it
With the right set of snip yes.
Sheetrock Green top joint compound
I've used it on plaster walls and never had a problem. You need to do a light scratch coat over it and let it dry before applying the final coat. I always add a little concrete glue to my plaster mix to assure adhesion.
