A:  Happy to help, Jerry! Rust-Oleum Watco Furniture Refinisher is a liquid that is applied with steel wool. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

    A:  It's a liquid

    by|Jun 25, 2019

A:  It's essentially a solvent, so it's very thin, like water.

      by|May 12, 2020

A:  It's a liquid like water, not water based though.

A:  Yes, the refinisher takes your project down to the bare wood keeping a bit of the original stain color intact. You could use wax, tung oil, or polyurethane (oil or water base).

          by|Apr 7, 2020

A:  You could but it would be on bare or stained wood. Depending on the item, I would put on Tung Oil or a Polyurethane finish.

            by|Jun 25, 2019

A:  Yes, virtually any type of finish can be applied after using the refinisher. Once the old finish has been removed and the refinisher liquid has dried, the wood should be buffed with clean steel wool as a final cleaning and then it's ready for whatever new finish you want whether it's stain and varnish, paint, or just a paste wax.

              Great product highly recommend
I used this recently to refinish a bar rail that had multiple finishes of unknown origins and this product removed everything with little hassle. I used medium grade steel wool and minimal scrubbing to get it down to the bare wood. Would definitely use again, but make sure to buy multiple sets of gloves specifically for stripping, as it ate through two pairs that I brought.

Being a liquid, it removes the old varnish from spindles better than any paste! I do a lot of refinishing and just love the liquid type of remover.

This product works exactly as it's supposed to. Other reviewers who've had trouble may not have any experience with refinishing stained and varnished furniture. I've done this numerous times with different brands of refinisher products and this one works just like it should. Just follow the directions carefully and be sure to use the very fine, 0000 grade of steel wool.

Well, it works great. The last time I purchased this was a couple years ago, I usually get a couple gallons at a time and have it around. Overpriced now at $18/qt, was less than half that last time I made the purchase, and they don't have the gallon containers anymore either(none of the brands do). That sucks.

Great product, used it the first time tonight on a nice older dresser. Does exactly what it says it does, if you follow the directions. Much cleaner and easier than using stripper and I would add faster and more thorough. Removing finish on any furniture takes time and effort, there are no magic wands that I've ever found, but I thought it worked very well.

                  Product does not work.
Do not buy! It simply doesn't do what it says it does. Kinda starts to take the finish off. It would be a long arduous process.
