Q:How do you remove the stopper?

A:  If you’re asking how to remove old stopper, Watco has the most common removal stopper instructions here: https://youtu.be/gLr6q7-o46A. If needing to remove a Universal NuFit, it will depend if pin adapter was used. Then all you do is unthread the stopper by holding the base in a counter-clockwise motion. If silicone was used, this is a more permanent solution and should only be used when drain no longer has working cross bars. Watco is the choice of professionals. Watco customer service is 1-800-308-0864.

          A:  Since this is a push down stopper I use the heel of my foot to tap on the top. The stopper should automatically pop up.

            A:  The Universal NuFit Foot Actuated stopper top with a grid strainer isn't manufactured to be able to remove the top portion. If a brass pin adapter was used in the drain, then all you need to do is unthread the entire stopper with grid strainer to remove. If silicone was used, then you will need to pry it off carefully or you can also try using heat to make the silicone pliable, to then carefully remove.

              The holes in the screen are small, so they clog up quickly. The rubber flange sits so close to the screen that it's hard to get your finger underneath to clean it out. I often end my showers with water over my toes because of this poorly designed part.

              Watco does sell a non-grid version of the Universal NuFit bathtub stopper. Watco SKUs with a -G have the grid strainer. If you don't see a non-grid strainer SKU available, Watcomfg.com/watco has an online site to be able to purchase a non-grid Universal NuFit. With the grid strainer, depending on amount of hair, cleaning out the grid regularly would need to take place. Watco is the Choice of Professionals.
