Q:Does Danish oil work well on MDF workbench tops?
      by|Mar 11, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

          Danish oil
I used this to finish my brand new mahogany front door. I read other reviews which sold me on this product. The finish is beautiful and very easy to use. I used a brush to brush it on, let it sit for 15 minutes and then wiped it with A microfiber towel.

Bought this to stain/finish a school project. Using the oil straight from the bottle gets a bit messy, but I absolutely loved the idea result! It made my ugly plywood look nice and really brought out the details of the mahogany I used.

Danish oil is such a nice and easy finish that keeps the highlights the natural wood grain well. The dark walnut really leaves a mild color with only a couple of coats on white pine and southern yellow pine for me, but it can darken up a lot with a shellac & buffed paste wax finish on top. I like how easy this is to apply and how easy it is to clean up. I do wish that it came in affordable larger sizes to buy in bulk like wood glue does. I would recommend.

The multiple uses of Danish Oil
I used the Danish oil as a stain for that antique look. The oil leaves my project with an antique satin finish that I love.

I found the product easy to apply, and the stain dries evenly. I just finished a piece with Watco poly over the stain and I could not be happier with the end product.

If you want an attractive hand rubbed finish that is simple to apply, get a Danish oil. Dark walnut stain adds color. My store never seems to get the natural uncolored oil. But I wanted a darker finish, so this worked. I have used it before and definitely will use it again.

So much easier than staining and sealing. Just rubbed on with a cloth. We added floating shelves in our bathroom update. I love how the color turned out, it's not super dark.

My purpose was to rejuvenate a table showing its' wear from being on a covered porch exposed to some weather. This "oil" did what I wanted it to do...cover the old scratches, weathered wood and help me make it look like new. It did!

The product was perfect for the finish I needed. I refinished a top and two leafs on a 40 year old table. The color needed to match the lower part of the table and couldn't have asked for a more perfect match. The product was easy to use. I applied 3 coats and waited an hour between coats. I highly recommend this product.
