Is the bowl ceramic?

Must this be plugged into the wall each time or is there an in-line switch?

I had this fountain for less than a year when the lights stopped working and then shortly thereafter the pump totally stopped working. I have been trying to find a replacement pump for this with the lights, but thus far I haven't been able to find a pump and hose that will work with this.
Disappointed because I loved the fountain but definitely not worth the money!
