Dumped resin into my water after a month
About a month after having this softener installed, I begin to notice a rubbery taste and smell to my water. I didn't think too much of it at first, but after a week or two the water started tasting and smelling really awful. The only water that was ok was the filtered water from my fridge. I also started noticing sand like grains in my water. I assumed that some sediment had been dislodged from my pipes after the plumbing work, and after having soft water run through them. Well, I probably let this go on for way too long, but I just decided to troubleshoot the problem a couple days ago. I found that when I set the softener to bypass, the problems disappeared. Well, it turns out something in the softener has failed and the resin inside the tank has been entering my water. My toilet tanks have a layer of resin on the bottoms, and I'm sure my pipes and water heater are full of resin too. I have no idea how to flush out my pipes, and I have no idea what drinking this stuff for over a month could do my family's and my health. Do yourself a favor and skip this softener. As always, I regret going with the cheaper option...

Finally got in the mail, box looked great. No shipping damage. Opened up the box and started looking at the machine. It looked good right out of the box. But, i take it out, and remove the lid on top, and the internal mechanism is broke. Like, plain as day, the pipe that connects the resin tank to the salt tank is broke in half. No way shipping could have broken something inside the product. I usually don't believe the one star reviews, but i do for this one. If this is the kind of quality out of the factory, I'd steer clear of anything from this brand.

      Useless after 3 years
Very poor product. Horrible customer service. Circuit board failed first year. Hardware rotted away (not stainless) manufacturer said “ from using rust inhibitor salt “ faulty hardware caused leak while not at home causing thousands of dollars of damage. Do not buy.

I replaced a 15 year old Water Boss 550 with this new 950. They don't offer a small city water version like they used so I bought the 950. The height therefore is different than the unit I was replacing so I need to install flex shark bite tubing connection to the current copper lines and female 3/4" on the other side. I had no issue with removing the old one, cleaning up the extra water from the pipes and putting in its place the new 950. I was able to use the old regeneration tubing so that I did not have to redo that again. I tested for leaks, found none then moved on to filling it with 2 gallons water and the salt. I let it regenerate and programmed the unit for HE demand. It cycled and no leaks. All good 24 hours later with soft water through out the home again. PS: I do wish they would of had a schematic of dimensions of the value unit relative to the base of the unit as that would help planning before hand of the necessary fittings instead of buying a bunch and return the extra.

Mixed feelings. The top cover of the unit was damaged. This occurred twice. The third unit was OK, but upon installation, water outlets were 1 in, whereas the published installation manual listed 3/4 in. outlets. You cannot find adapters to reduce 1 in to 3/4 in. It cost an additional $35 for various brass fittings to reduce the outlets. Finally the overflow hole for the salt tank was not threaded to accommodate the threaded nipple provided for the tubing. You will need to thread the hole with a very large tap or screw in a lug bolt with the proper thread to finish the job. We had an original Waterboss softener that served us well for 26 years, so we were very disappointed in the quality control of the updated version. Once installed, the unit works well.
