Questions & Answers

Can it handle water with dirt and sand mixed in water?

I need to empty hole where I dug down to repair main water line to house.
Asked by: Al
I use an old 5 gallon bucket with small holes drilled at the bottom and lower sides. It acts like a filter and keeps leaves and muck out. Pump has worked well just wish there was an automatic off switch when it has sucked up all the water.

Does it turn off when it has sucked everything dry? Or can it run dry for extended time?

Asked by: Fathertime
DO NOT RUN DRY.... despite any answers you see..... if you don't believe, call Wayne. It will destroy the pump.

Asked by: Chip
We've had ours running for over 48 hours straight and it's still pumping water like it was at hour 1. Great little workhorse. I hope it continues to work for many more years to come.

It puts out impressive pressure, and it pumps right down to the rated 1/16th of an inch, and even worked for removing standing water in the yard. I like that it uses garden hose fittings which makes it super easy to attach outlet hoses. It can become clogged when used on a surface with mud and small debris, but it did perfectly fine on top of grass. I only wish it had a tether point on the top for a rope or something. The cord is very solidly attached and works as a tether in a pinch though. Also, make sure you tighten down the brass fittings before the first use, mine were about a half-turn unthreaded and weeped a little bit of water when I first used it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from And he took a stone and put it in his sling... OK, a little dramatic, but sometimes the small can defeat the mighty. Have a rental house where major rain is causing a buildup of water that was shorting out the hot water heater. Don’t ask, the people that installed it before I bought it were morons. I know that I will need a more permanent solution, in this case a sump pump, but man did this get me out of a bind. Totally drained the water build up, this will be a great thing to keep for those water issues that always come at a bad time. I am totally happy with this item, it did what it said it would do and bought me the time I needed for a more permanent fix

We tried a bunch of different pumps and then we found this one. This pump is amazing. It pumps down to nearly dry. The other pumps we used would leave 1& 1/4 Inch of standing water behind. I would HIGHLY recommend this pump. I bought an extra one I was so impressed, I gave that pump to my father who was having a similar issue. He is a licensed plumber and he was shocked how well this thing works. Anyone who has basement flooding I would tell you not to waste your time with any other pumps. Just buy this and you will be all set.

Unlike many products available now, this Water Bug worked great right out of the box. All you do is plug it in and see the great results it gives. I wanted to pump out an 8 ft deep hole filled with water due to digging for a leak underneath my barn. I put it in a plastic bucket and drilled holes on the side of the bucket about 3 inches from the bottom to prevent mud and silt getting to the pump. The water gushes out the hose, so much so that I have to move it around to prevent saturation.. Great product. Do not hesitate to purchase.

I had a lot of standing water in my driveway and garage and needed to get it removed. I ran this for a few hours on 75 feet of garden hose. It did a great job of moving the water I'm guessing it moved 500-700 gallons of water easy. There was a lot dirt and other derby in the water and I zero clogging issues. The amount of water coming out of the garden hose was comparable to running the hose off the faucet. So far it has been worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it at twice the price! I bought this product to clean up a basement flood. I bought a different pump first and returned it because it didn’t suck up the water unless it was deep enough. I exchanged it for the waterbug. I plugged it in and it removed almost every last drop. I was blown away by how well it worked. It claims to remove water up to 1/16” deep. I’d say it removed even more. If you need water cleaned up, this thing is amazing!

Our back patio area (lowest elevation) drain froze this winter from shifting high and low temperatures. With the ground frozen, we had heavy rains that accumulated over the patio and seeped into the cellar. Purchased the WaterBUG and it took care of the standing water immediately. Unit is well constructed, has plenty of pumping power, and is easy to clean/maintain. Side or top discharge option is a great feature.

Now, what i need it for it works fine, but i do question the 1257 GPH it claims ( i know that's on a flat surface) but with in a 10 foot rise it claims 900 GPH, i filled up a 5 Gallon bucket and it emptied it in 2.4 minutes. if you do that math that comes out to about 125 Gallons per hour...so i don't think it pumps out anywhere near the amount they claim.
