Does this pump have to be turned off as soon as the areas dry or does it have a sensor that cuts it off.

Will a water hose screw on the adapter. Also I want to hook it to a 30 ft water hose and discharge in a small concrete drain will it pump the water through a hose for 30 ft
Asked by: Bill
Yes, pump has to be turned off manually, by user when area(s) are dry. No auto-off sensor.

I have purchased two...the first one I threw in the trash after 6 months, it stopped functioning. The second one, I purchased two months ago, I have used it one time for half an hour to pump from my rain catchment system. It functioned for half an hour and then died. I will take it back to Home Depot tomorrow and I will NEVER purchase another Wayne pump. I am an anthropologist and I teach sustainability, including water catchment. I plan to tell everyone I know about my experience. Two pumps, one year, neither functioned. The last one functioned less than an hour. RIdiculous! The task was not burdensome or difficult, drop the pump into a barrel and pump the water out. What is so difficult about that? Some people don't have time to wait for the item, try to use it, think they have something they can use, because they are not sold in the store, and then when the time comes to use it, it doesn't function, so you drive back to Home Depot to return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor website info - I ended up returning it Might be a good pump for the right application but . . . Incomplete online specs and wrong instruction guide linked at website led me to return it. Description and specs say it pumps down to 1/8" of water but fails to say 2-5/8" deep water is needed before pump primes and pumping can begin. The instruction manual linked on the HD website leads to a completely different, incorrect sprinkler pump so that info is useless. The instruction manual in the box is correct but that's a little late to be finding out the performance specs. I had to take it back. If HD had the correct Instructions link, it would have saved them and me a lot of wasted time and effort.

I used this pump to empty a large above ground pool and it did the job admirably. Easy set-up, connects to your standard garden hose to move water to a good dumping spot, and it's powerful. I had leaves and acorns at the bottom of the pool, it takes only water in, the suction is just right not to disturb debris, absolutely no clogging. Great product for the money, though you'll need to monitor it's progress as there's no auto shut-off.

The people that drain my pond every year said that the moter was not the size that was on the box. They said the size we had should have been getting the water out in 1.2 hours. But it took 5.2 hours. So when you are paying them by the hours it makes it sucks! If you have alot of time and $ this is for you. I am going to Home Depot to get my $ back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Fast I needed a pump to empty my hot tub and picked this one after a lot of web research. Have only used it once, but it worked great, drained 350 gallons in an hour with about a 3 ft. rise using the garden hose reducer on the outlet. The power cord is plenty long enough, and the unit is nicely weighted to stay put. Instructions were simple, hookup and operation were easy. The only "con" I have is that the instructions say it will pump down to 1/4 of an inch, but it needs 2 5/8 inches of water to operate, so keep an eye on the water level to avoid over heating the pump. Hoping to use this 3-4 times a year, time will tell how durable this unit is.

We pumped out muddy water from our backyard with this thing. It was a beast and did not clog. Probably not the best situation to put a pump into (muddy water) but this thing just doesn't quit. Well worth the price as others have mentioned. I was so impressed with this product!

I bought it to replace one that had quit working. I installed the hose adapter using teflon tape and there were no leaks. It seems powerful, but I really hope I won't ever need to use it.

Bad news: They offer a 1-1/2 inch output hose with this. I bought two. But this pump has a 1-1/4 inch female threaded output, and comes with an adapter to a garden hose. Home Depot does not carry the 1-1/4 inch male threaded by 1-1/2 inch male hose barbed fitting needed to connect the output hose they sell for this pump. Nor does Loews. But it's a fine pump and moves a lot of water, once you manage to connect a 1-1/4 inch output hose. The garden hose works OK, but doesn't move water all that fast. Also, the cord is to short for draining a swimming pool.
