Q:Can this filter be cut to fit??? Can it be used for a furnace and also for a seperate A/c system?

Answer This Question

A:  No. The filtering material is in a sturdy plastic frame.

by|Jan 30, 2021

A:  It cannot be cut to fit. The frame is hard, U-shaped plastic, but you can buy adjustable filters. It is fine for both heat and AC. I found that I had to secure the spongy filter material which slid around when washing.

by|Jul 17, 2020

A:  No, it can't be cut to fit, It has a frame that is not adjustable. It can be used in any HVAC system.

Q:I dismantled my filter to clean it. I took the green part out & hand washed & put in dryer. Green side up reassembled?

Answer This Question

A:  I just take my filter out and wash outside with a hose pipe let it dry and put back I have always done it that way you doing to much to your filter just rise off the dirt and dust out.

by|Oct 26, 2018

A:  Wow, I just hosed it off every year. Green side goes toward furnace

    by|Mar 12, 2019

A:  Yes, green side up, i.e the back of the filter is in the 'in-coming' air stream.

      by|Oct 26, 2018

A:  The air exits the filter on the green side (the arrows on the label at the end of the filter point to the green side).

        by|Nov 1, 2018

A:  Washing Procedure: 1. To clean, rinse with a hose or wash in sink. For heavy dirt build up, soak the filter in a solution of mild dishwashing detergent and water, then rinse with clean water thoroughly. , . 2. Shake out any excess water. Filter may be damp. 3. Reinstall the filter. Note: Both sides of the filter are the same. The airflow label is provided for your consistency in using the filter. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/48/484f9d20-5560-4fb3-afa7-22d56ef58461.pdf

A:  I've never disassembled my filter, only cleaned it by running water through it. I looked at my filter and in the furnace the air goes into the filter and out the green side.

          by|Oct 27, 2018

A:  I never dismantle mine. I flip it front to back and wash both sides (reverse & forward air flow direction) with the hose after putting some dish detergent on the filter. I only wash it with soap and water via a hose and let it air dry outside. I use a cheap filter until the Eco Plus Washable Filter is air dried and then I take out the temporary cheap filter and set it aside until the next cleaning of the Eco Plus Filter. Easy and Economical.

Q:Can it be used while wet?

                    Answer This Question

A:  No, After washing it let it dry completely. Either by 2 use one wash one, or buy replacement filters and use them only while you dry. It does save you a lot of money. It's well worth the investment. We have been pleased. I highly recommend.

                    by|Apr 9, 2018

A:  I have not tried this filter yet myself but note that a few people have suggested that it can be reinstalled slightly damp. Personally I would caution against this for the simple reason that if your environment is somewhat dusty or you have pets the dust caught on a damp filter might become muddy and when dry would create a lump that would unduly interfere with air flow. The same for clumps of pet hair. To go British just my ha' penny of thought.

                        A:  No, might damage heating/AC.

A:  I have cleaned the filter by blowing air from a leaf blower through it in the reverse direction & then directing water spray from a garden hose on it also in a reverse direction. I then let the filter drip dry. When installed it is still somewhat damp but no longer dripping, and it seems to work fine.

                        by|Apr 9, 2018

A:  After I rinse mine, I leave it upright in the sink for awhile to drain. It should be no problem to reinstall it when it's damp but I wouldn't when it's still dripping.

                          by|Apr 16, 2018

A:  I would say NO, I let it dry before re-installing. I keep a regular filter on standby and use it while the washable filter dries. When dry, I replace the temporary filter with the washable. The temporary filter is only used while the washable is drying, so it never really get's very dirty.

A:  Slightly wet or damp is okay. It will dry quickly as the air passes over it. I think the instructions says it should be dry so that large amounts of water don't go into the chamber and cause steam. Steam could cause damage to the heat exchanger. But damp is fine.

Very "green" as it is washable, not going into the trash!
I change filters in my furnace every month, this will save me money and not end up in the trash. I just keep one of the disposables and use it for one day while this one dries completely. It fit perfectly and is very sturdy. Just wish they would carry more sizes in the store so more people could buy them without shipping costs.

                                impossible to clean
I've had these 2 seasons now and these filters do not come clean. We heat Oct-Apr, and change monthly in season. I'm switching to disposable cardboard filters.
