Questions & Answers

I want to drill a hole in the lid and install a Weber Replacement Thermometer 67088, Center Mount...

Asked by RJ March 16, 2021

it would probably work, sounds like a good idea i would go to the store and look at a display you have a handle on the top and a four hole vent good luck

Is this made in China?

Asked by WOLFMAN June 15, 2020

I have reviewed their website thoroughly and the only reference to parts and manufacturing are shown in the capture below. As with almost all products in today's GLOBAL economy, parts are typically sourced from all over the world, and I would assume this holds true with Weber. I am a Weber user going back nearly sixty years. Don't and won't grille on anything but a Weber Charcoal Kettle. A flavor that can't be duplicated. While the grilles ARE NOT what they once were (what the heck is?), IMO you won't find a better grille on the market. One only has to spend about five minutes perusing the Weber website to believe the product quality. Look at the warranties on any of their products. The replacement parts availability. The registration of your grille by serial number on EVERY Model.

Can you move the grill when its hot or do you have to wait until it cools down

Asked by Annie October 18, 2019

I’m not sure why you want to move it and where but it is possible. I would recommend not moving it while hot however. With all Weber grills, close the top and bottom vents when you are finished cooking. This allows the grill to cool down in about a half hour. And you will be able to reuse the remaining coals. If you move it hot, close the vents and use gloves to pull the hoop over the lid and snap in place over the handle. You can then pick it up and move it.

What is the base/ leg diameter. I need to determine the size table I will need to put it on. Hopi...

Asked by Bill August 1, 2019

I measured my Jumbo Joe and it’s 15 inches at the base of the legs. I put mine on a Weber table that I got on line at Home Depot. It’s model number 7445 and it’s made for the jumbo joe. The legs lock in and it’s portable. I love it. It runs around $60.

Can a vortex be used with this grill? If so what size would work?

Asked by Dp3 June 11, 2019

Hello, we have not designed or tested or products for use with 3rd party products, including the vortex. We have no information pertaining to what negative effects they may have upon our products. Thanks.

What are the dimensions of this grill? Height, width, depth?

Asked by eloela April 16, 2019

Hello! This model has the following dimensions (in inches): H: 19.7 W: 20.5 D: 19.7. Thanks!

How many hamburgers will it fit at one time?

Asked by VB April 1, 2019

Depending on the size of your patties you should be able to fit ten. This grill is 18 inches and is really roomy for a small grill. I own three Weber’s and this my smallest one so I only use it for tailgating and camping.

Is there a cover or storage bag that can be purchased for the Jumbo Joe?

Asked by Cindy July 21, 2018

Not that I am aware of. I would just use a strong large plastic bag.

Can the lid be removed for storing or is it attached by screws?

Asked by smokey May 4, 2018

The lid is NOT attached.

Can u use this to smoke ribs etc.?

Asked by Jy6148 July 2, 2017

Yes, ribs, especially baby backs come out so delicious on the Jumbo Joe! You can use rib racks or just lay the slabs down on an oiled grill grate. I use hickory or apple wood chunks (instead of charcoal) or wood chips on top of charcoal to smoke my ribs.

Quality & portable
Awesome grill love the portability of it ! The lid attach option is great.

Weber is the Best
This my third Weber grill. I have had two if the 14” very durable. This 18” is perfect for grilling for myself or for friends and family. The larger grill affords the space to add more food. Which means happier guests.

This fantastic we loved it, we already cooked in it and delicious

Something special.
This little guy is perfect for the mobile griller. You can take it anywhere with ease. I do wish there was a 22” model though. I thought about converting one of my two 22” kettles into a jumbo jumbo joe, but that would leave me with only one 22” Weber kettle grill when every man needs at least two.
Love our Jumbo Joe!
After Decades of Weber Gas Grills, I wanted to try my hand at Smoking some Ribs on a Real Charcoal Grill. I had the original Smokey Joe when I just got out of high school, but I wanted a larger grill for more grilling/BBQ possibilities without breaking the bank. The Jumbo Joe fit the bill perfectly! I love the locking lid to make it truly portable in a safe/non messy way. I prefer this over the 18" Weber Kettle on wheels, and its less expensive! I've done three separate Ribs smokes, and a night of Burgers on the Jumbo so far, and all came out perfect. I forgot how much tastier food is on charcoal vs gas! After watching many online videos, I've come to realize that Grilling/BBQ on a Weber Kettle actually has better control (IMO) than my gas grills. On one occasion I did wish for a bit more room to smoke more ribs (I tried the Rib Rack, and do not like how they lean on each other, I feel they don't smoke/cook as even as just laying flat - returned the rib rack). After further research, and using a compilation of Ideas, I made myself a removable/adjustable second tier using a Smokey Joe (14") Grill grate and stainless steel hardware. Now I can almost double the volume of food on my Jumbo. It can also be used as a warmer to separate from the hotter main grate. We have also used the Jumbo as a small portable Fire Pit, which was actually the original Idea for the use of the Jumbo Joe, at time of purchase. So, basically I have two great outdoor appliances for the very reasonable price of one! We Love our Jumbo Joe!

Best of both worlds
Grill for home, grill for outings. This grill works well in both settings. Backyard table and you’re set at home. For outings it can be placed anywhere. After you’re done grilling the vents close well to contain the fire and ashes inside to snuff the fire quickly. The carrying handle/lid holder is one of its best features. I’ve actually smoked with it and use the lid lock/holder to keep control of the oxygen, which has allowed me do low and slow quite easily for about 8 hours. It won’t do much more because of its lack of space to keep ashes inside. The ash catcher does lock in place underneath which is a big plus when transporting. The Weber charcoal baskets do fit inside, although it would be difficult to use more than 1 effectively. Overall, it’s like my utility grill. Definitely recommend.

A must for campers and on the go grillers
Jumbo Joe is the most versatile portable grill Weber makes! And it might be in my head but I think it keeps the heat better than other more expensive models. Highly recommend for the compact, portable but still regular size cooking area.
The Best
Weber is just the best, that's all I can say! Great products, excellent customer service, they have it all!
Very disappointed
Top vent damper scratched the lid pretty bad. I was sent a new lid, and vent damper. Put it together this evening. Same thing happened. Also there is a flaw in the finish around 2 of the leg holes. They're cover by washers, but I expect this thing to rust out at some point. I'd think maybe I got a lemon, but the second lid and damper make me think otherwise.

Response from Weber grills Sep 19, 2020
Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We are sorry to hear about the disappointing experience you had with your new Jumbo Joe Charcoal Grill. We are glad to see that our support team assisted with this. We suggest the first uses to let the grill preheat to loosen the damper on the lid. We will pass this feedback to our design team! If we can help with anything else, please reach out to us at reviews@weberstephen.com. Thanks!
Best Portable Out There.
Great portable with the quality you expect from Weber. First thing I did was add a thermometer to the lid. Did a whole slab of baby backs 3-2-1 indirectly that came out perfect. Great size that can handle cooking for 4 if you plan accordingly. Can’t do that on a Smokey Joe. Go Jumbo! Plus lots of aftermarket adds that start at the 18” level.
