Spirit SX-315 3-Burner Propane Gas Smart Grill in Stainless Steel

Great grill, like the feature of temperature mesuring, to bad only 1 prob canes with it, heats up verry quick, nice heat spread, recomending.

3 weeks in with my new Spirit SX-315 Smart Grill and I am very pleased with its performance so far. Assembly was quite easy and everything that I have grilled so far has been perfect!

This review will cover two parts first how well the grill performs and second how well the smart features work and if they are valuable. First the grill itself is well constructed with quality materials. It was very easy to assemble if you are used to assembling your own items. What impressed me most about the design is that the grill incorporated its own cabling management system for the smart system. I had assumed the smart features was just an add on to the side shelf with batteries in the back, however that is not the case. The batteries for the smart features and for the ignitor are contained in the cabinet away from the elements which helps prevent corrosion of the materials. As for cooking with the grill, I have found that the grill preheats relatively fast. It has always gotten up to grilling temperature by time I am done with my food preparation so I haven't had any issue here. This grill does not have a dedicated sear burner but you can still get a good sear on the grates at full temperature. The grill cooks very evenly, I haven't found any hot or cold spots on the grill and I can place food at any location on the grates and have them cook evenly. As with any grill you do lose a lot of heat with the lid open. The grill will quickly recover its heat if you don't leave the lid open too long but it may take a while to recover heat if you are flipping food for five minutes. This is where I feel the smart features come in handy. If you use the Weber app to program your cooking routine, the smart system will adjust the cooking time based on the temperature of the food, and the temperature of the grill. You just flip when it says to flip and remove from the grill when it says to remove from the grill and your meal is cooked perfectly to your preferred level of doneness. The smart features remove a lot of the guesswork around grilling by just time and temperature alone. Additionally the grill temperature gauge is located in the back of the grill just above the grates which provides for a more accurate temperature reading than a lid thermometer. I find a lot of value in the smart features but I can also see how some people might prefer not to spend the extra money on the smart grill and instead get a Spirit with a side burner or a Genesis instead. If you already have the Weber iGrill portable system or have perfected your grilling techniques to not need the system it probably doesn't make sense to buy this model. However, for the average user this is an all around excellent grill.

The materials seem flimsy. Who designs a grill that is outside that always looks like it needs it's metal finishes cleaned? The stainless was damaged...had striations throughout. I got this as a corporate gift so can't return it. The design is poor...the top opens up so high I can't reach to open it easily and am always afraid I'll burn myself it's so high, and I'm 5'5". My old Weber Spirit, close to 20 yrs old, was much better. Very disappointed.

Très content! Il y a 23 ans, on a acheté un Weber. On en est tellement satisfait qu’on l’a remplacé par un autre Weber. De plus le service à la clientèle est exceptionnel.

The reason for the low rating is the fact that a key electronic module was not included. This is a key factor in using the dashboard. Probably in short supply but still selling the grill.

My replacement knobs did not work So I still haven’t been able to use my new grill

This is an amazing BBQ. It's quite handy having all the information on your phone. Can't wait to try all the recipes on the App.

Was disappointed with the construction and design. The back of the grill has an opening, that in a moderate wind, when the gas is turned to medium on all 3 burners, allows the wind to blow out the flame. So have to keep it on high in a modest wind, a waste of Propane and increased level of difficulty maintaining a proper temperature. I have purchased Weber grills since the 90's and own 3. The Kettle, a Genisis and a Spirit that is 6 years old which is why I purchased this new Spirit. This just seems to be less sturdy in it's construction and missing some features , like a regular mechanical thermometer. The electronics are ok , but the base BBQ unit is disappointing.
