can I use this to clean an gas stove top?

If your goal is to use it on the ceramic top surrounding the gas burners then there should be no problem using it on that. It'll clean it and protect it quite nicely.

My Stove top is a combination glass and ceramic stove top so I see no problem in using it on the glass. It does not scratch my stove top when I use it. Hope this helps!

why is that my local Home Depot states that they do not carry Weiman Cook Top Cleaner. On line the message is "must be purchased in store".

Maybe they do not carry it anymore. I would recommend calling the store or going in if you would like to, and show them the posting online. Another reason is that they could be out of stock in store or it stopped carrying it altogether, If that's the case, call HD's customer service line and see why they cant ship it to your home.
