Weller Manufacturing Company was founded in 1945 as a family partnership near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Over the years, manufacturers of many types of products from televisions to washing machines came to rely on Weller for its quality and reliability. I would have much preferred the old style where the tips ARE NOT affixed to the body via a set screw on the side of the two leads. Contacting Weller, they said the old style connection points are no longer made. Other than that, the gun works as expected. Longevity is another matter as I have not owned the tool that long and only used it twice.
