I have owned one of these units and many other Weller products and used them for years with favorable results. I liked the WLC100 so much I bought a second one from HD. Unfortunately it overheated and the tip and shaft turned bright red after being powered up for four minutes. Maybe the Weller brand is not of the same high quality that I have known it to be in the past, or perhaps just an isolated incident. whatever the case I returned it.
