If I have to pick this up, how compact is the packing?

I need to know if this might fit in my Hundai Sonata with seats folded or do i have to rent a truck for this ? Thank you
Asked by: Emily
The Werner response above is not accurate - this is not the MT-13; it is the MT-26. I don't know the answer however.

Customer Reviews

18 ft. Reach Aluminum Telescoping Multi-Position Ladder with 300 lb. Load Capacity Type IA Duty Rating is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 2689.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great ladder, but weight makes it hard to use I saw other reviews discussing how heavy this ladder is, but I was not worried about that because I am a strong, strapping young man. So what if the ladder weighs 80 or 90 pounds, I can easily carry that around. Turns out I was wrong. I was only thinking about moving the ladder from place to place when it was folded up. The real issue with the weight is standing the ladder up when it is fully extended. The ladder is too heavy to just snatch up and man handle into position, you have to walk it up. But, because of the weight and length, you have to have someone or something hold down the ground end while you walk up and position the top end. Also, the weight makes it very awkward to lift and reposition the ladder in the upright position. One more complaint, I have a short bed pickup. In the fully collapsed position, the ladder won't fit lengthwise in the bed. Don't let me complaints fool you though. I love this ladder. I would definitely buy it again. The ladder works great and is a good price for all of the functionality you get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Townhouse We purchased our home because we loved the open floor plan and the high ceilings. I purchased this ladder because of the open floor plan and high ceilings. I own a three story townhouse which does not allow me to store a regular 22 foot extension ladder with ease. I also was not thrilled with the idea of wrestling a 22 foot extension ladder every time a light bulb went out. I have seen the little giant ladder commercials airing for years and I was happy to find out that there were other brands out there which did not charge and arm and a leg for a ladder with similar features. I store this ladder in my garage in two separate pieces. This way I have a regular, easy to manage, ladder ready to go whenever I need it. When I need the full 22 feet of ladder, I simply carry each piece on its own to deploy where needed. The ladder is by no means as easy to set up as a 22 foot extension ladder, however, I am able to make due. This drawback is far outweighed by the advantages of its compact size while it is sitting in my garage most days of the year. Would certainly buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Ladder I had done a lot of research on multi ladders before making this purchase and two things lead me to buy the Werner. First was that I got it on sale for the same price as that tool store that sells all the cheap tools from China sells their no-name brand on sale for. I first considered the Little Giant as I had an old one that was made in the USA, but found they (like ALL the other brands) are now made in China and felt their price way too high as compared to the other imports. So it was this second thing that really helped me decide on the Werner. Werner's rungs are riveted to the rails and the others are welded. I'm figuring if a rung got damaged and need to be replaced that I may be able to buy a replacement. As far as the ladder itself goes, it does the same things as the other brands so its nothing special. I just deducted a point in each category because Werner is an American company selling these "off shore made" ladders and it took some digging to find out they were not US made.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Please do know that this is a quite heavy piece of equipment. If you are buying this to take adva... Please do know that this is a quite heavy piece of equipment. If you are buying this to take advantage of the full 26ft length, first, it will be too heavy for one person to position the ladder correctly upright and therefore require a second person - preferably from above - to achieve the goal; secondly, even if you succeed in getting it up and position it correctly, once you are on the ladder, especially, on the midpoint, you'll feel the wobbling so bad that it will make you feel really uncomfortable. Lastly, maybe I was just unlucky on this particular purchase, but the auto locking mechanism that locks and unlocks the ladder at the midpoint (the blue knobs), is just too hard, tough to operate that my fingers started to hurt after a few tries. Bottomline is that if you are a solo DIYer who has no help and buying this for take advantage of the full 26 ft extension, do look somewhere else. I do think however that the ladder feels pretty sturdy up to about 16 to 18 feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product, good price Bought the Werner MT26 on line. It shipped free and was delivered within 4 days. Versatile and well built. Keep in mind, these Werner MT ladders are rated for the expected height a person using one can reach, so the MT 26 is really only a 22' ladder. it is heavy but no heavier then I expeced. To use it as a fully extended extension ladder, it helps to have 2 people to set it up. If you try to extend it fully by standing it up first, it is hard to lift the telescoping sections while holding the ladder upright as they are heavy. If the sections were to fall during this effort, you could get your hands or arms caught by the falling sections. It seems safer to extend it fully by laying it on the ground and slowly "walk" it upright. This works but the MT 26 is just too long to sucessfully do it without butting the base up to a wall or other stationary object first, or have someone hold it down to prevent it from sliding outwards while raising it this way. Makes a great stepladder for outdoor use. Climbing it in extension mode is best done slowly to avoid the springing action caused by the hinge. Stores easily in a vertical position less then 7' high. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid-Stable-$$$ Value Excellent Multi-Use Ladder that is made very well. It is a ROCK Solid climbing platform that offers many great features for the homeowner. The adjustable Dual-Step ladder and extension will be my most common uses inside and out. Each side can handle the Class 1A 300# OSHA\ANSI rating, perfect for high projects that need 4 hands to complete. It weighs in at 37lbs, less than its more expensive LG competition. Although I'm a light frame kind-of-guy, I find the portability and set up easy and intuitive! Its adjust-ability and versatility has allowed me to replaced a 4ft & 8ft A-frame ladder set for less $$$, and takes up far less storage space! I've found Werner is a ladder manufacture trusted and respected well in the industry. In all, the MT-17 is a Solid Investment to secure our personal safety while working in and around our home. Highly Recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very sturdy Got a great deal at Home Depot online: $119 (plus tax). Ladder is very sturdy for a big guy like me (250+) and I feel very safe on it. Folds up nicely and take up just a tiny little area in my garage when not in use. For smaller people... it is a bit on the heavy side, but that's a sacrifice for it's nice versatility. Folding mechanisms are pretty easy, but it takes some getting used to finding the right leverage to unfold it to upright. When folding it back up the right leverage point is even more important, as it will swing down with a lot of force once you unlock it, but since the unlocking buttons are in the middle of the ladder unless you're really tall it's hard to grab high enough on the top part of the ladder to get the right leverage (hard to explain). Laying the ladder on it's side is easier to fold. For me, this ladder works out great, but if you're not that strong (sorry, can't figure out how to put that tactfully) it might not be the best choice for you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good price for average product Price is substantially lower than the Little Giant ladders, so that is a pro. I had used my bro-in-laws Little Giant 22 ft multi-use ladder and was very handy. So much so, that I figured I needed to invest in one for myself. I read reviews and shopped around and i thought i would take a chance on the lower rated product for a lower price. it is not as smooth. the locking mechanism sometimes gets stuck. Not as smooth and easy to manuever as the other brand. But I probably use a ladder about 15 times per year, so Im willing to take the tradeoff. However, if I was using it on a daily basis, I would probably opt for the lighter but more expensive one.
