Q:I have (will have) a 26 ft wide roof from rake to rake and approx 10 ft 6 in eave to ridge (rafter length). 8/12 pitch. Would I be able to attach one anchor to midline of the roof at the ridge and reach all areas of my roof?

A must have for do it yourselfers or pros. How much is your life worth?!
I was on a 28" ladder bouncing around power spraying my own home before staining it. that night I was scared about climbing back up to caulk and paint my home! So scared I could not sleep. my house is 3 stories with a walk out basement and 2 stories above that with high ceilings. The next morning I went to Home Depot and bought this bucket with a safety harness, line and anchor. I bought two permanent anchors to install at both ends of my home that are 3 stories high. after installing the anchors which were really easy and you will need one pack of your current shingles which you can buy at Home Depot, some roofing nails, and caulking, if you want to put the anchor on permanently.
After installing the anchors it is time to get to work caulking my home on my 28"ladder. NO problem! no more fear of climbing to the very top of the ladder and I think my work is actually safer because when you are scared you make mistakes. THIS HARNESS AND SAFETY GEAR IN THE BUCKET ALONG WITH A PERMANENT ANCHOR ARE WORth THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD! I highly recommend this for anyone climbing on a roof or a ladder outside.

We recently had to replace some sky lights on our home. We have a very steep 9/12 pitch with the bottom of the roof line at 20 feet above the ground. Needless to say....that can be pretty scary. This product made the job a lot more safe and at just under $100.00, it is THE best insurance policy we have ever purchased. So convenient to have all that you need in one place. We then installed the permanent ring on our ridge line, so that in the future when my husband has to clean the chimney, or do any maintenance to the roof, he will be nice and safe with this awesome Roofing Safety System. Good value for peace fo mind
Good value. All you need in a sturdy storage container. Used for about 4-5 hours. Harness is comfortable and gives you extra security on the roof. Who is going to pay your bills if you have an accident? in my opinion investing in safety is the best investment you can make. Gives extra security when bending down/ using tools on the roof. Used for painting and for installation of roof vents. As others have said, if you step on the rope you will slip. You need to be comfortable enough on the roof to get up to secure the harness and down with the harness unsecured. Allows you to work near the edge of the roof with power tools/ awkward angles.

Don't fall off your roof!
Falling off a roof, or high scaffold, can cripple you or worse. Medical bills, lost income, pain.
A fall protection system is designed to limit your drop to a few feet, so you are bruised not shattered.
This bucket of straps is complete for most purposes. Everything snaps straps and latches easily, and looks strong and safe. Initial harness adjustment is tedious, and must be done right. Once adjusted to you it should only need minor trim for seasonal clothing.
There are a LOT of instructions. You are taking your personal safety to a new level. Study well and stay safe. If you can find training, sign-up.
Note that this is fall protection. It supports you face-down like a parachute. There are also work support systems which support you in a working position. You may need both types for extreme jobs.
