A: Mine is already installed and I didn’t measure for an answer to your question. I do believe that a 5 1/2” will work though. It would most likely cover the smooth bead ring that would normally still be exposed upon installation. I would measure for you, but it will be several months before I can climb a ladder after surgery.
A: The diameter of this opening is 4 inches and if you include the inset it is only 4 13/16 inches so therefore a 5 1/2" canopy would not fit flush against it.
A: This comes with mounting hardware (screws) but it an also be attached using adhesive.

A: nope! it may depend on your fan but the bracket for the ceiling fan doesnt fit in the hole. they have smaller plastic ones that have a larger base, which i used but it as not as nice.
A: Hi, Yes you can as look as the canopy from the fan fits. Center opening is 4".
