Answer This Question
A:Â Not that I found but you could just use a wine cork and drill a hole into it. Thats what I did when none of the 3 adapters fit my bottle. (Plastic wine corks work better)

A:Â My jars were too large to use the adapters so I used a fender washer glued to the rim of the jar.

A:Â Not that I know of. My lamp was too large to use them so I used a fender washer and glued it the top of the opening.

Answer This Question
A:Â The "RIBBED" side of the cord is generally used as the "NEUTRAL", as is the silver screw.
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â The "RIBBED" wire and the "SILVER" screw should be used as the "NEUTRAL". However, unless you are using a "POLARIZED" plug, it doesn't really matter.
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â The instructions are listed on the back of the card. Look for ribbed cord or ribbing on the insulation and connect that to the silver colored screw.

Q:Does this kit assume that I have drilled a hole thru the glass bottle I am using as the lamp base?

Answer This Question
A:Â Yes. The cord feeds from the top
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â Hello, no you don't have to drill a hole. There is a hole on the side of the socket for the cord.
by|May 3, 2023
A:Â Since the socket has a rubber grommet hole above the threaded point for the rod, no. You have the option to have the cord exit just above the threaded part, or run the wire the conventional way.

Easy to figure out - this was my first time making a lamp and it went smoothly. I realized later that Westinghouse has a different kit that might have worked better for me since I wasn't using a bottle, but it still turned out okay.

I've used the product before and it works fine for my purposes. I only wish it were available in other metal finishes and cord colors, as buying the kit is many times more cost effective than buying individual parts and not all of these parts are even available in the store as separate items.
