Q:What 36" downrod can you purchase on the Home Depot site that would coordinate with this fan?

Answer This Question

A:  We did not purchased a rod.

by|Oct 1, 2019

A:  Westinghouse does not offer a gun metal finish down rod. The darkest option we carry is an oil brushed bronze finish. It can be painted if desired. You can use another manufacturers down rod, it just needs to be a 3/4" diameter down rod.

    by|Oct 1, 2019

A:  Angie Sorry to tel you that there is no stock downrod that looks any good, due to the unique finish of the gunmetal. Unless you are willing to find a metal spray paint and refinish a stock downrod

        Answer This Question

A:  A ceiling fan light should not be the main source of light for a room. This fan uses two medium-base 13-watt CFL light bulbs (these light bulbs are equivalent to (2) 60 watt incandescent light bulbs.

Q:Can this be installed without a down rod or with a shorter one?
          by|May 28, 2018

          Answer This Question

A:  The Zander ceiling fan needs to be installed with the included down rod and you cannot use a shorter down rod with it. You can add a longer down rod if needed but not a shorter down rod.

          by|May 29, 2018

A:  No. It needs the down rod included to allow you enough room to get a short length screwdriver through an access panel to fasten the fan blades in the housing. The down rod is short anyway (approx. 6in)

            by|May 28, 2018

A:  No, the ceiling fan must be installed with the included downrod. It is compatible with longer down rods but not shorter.

                  Very strong looking fan
Fan is large and very good looking. The fan was easy to put together BUT YOU HAVE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS TO MAKE THE REMOTE CONTROL WORK!!!!! The globe was broken when it arrived but we brought it back to Home Depot and they were excellent, as always, and were able to order the replacement for us free of charge. The blade span is broad and the air circulation is good from the fan.

I installed two of these fans and had the same issue with both. The remote control receiver that is housed in the fan is faulty. I thought it might be an isolated problem with the first fan but the replacement fan had the same problem. My conclusion is that this model has remote problems. The fan is beautiful - I just wish the remote worked. I am going to attempt to contact the company to get a replacement receiver because the fan is installed and I don't want to have to order another and install again.

I'm sure this is a lovely fan and I would have liked to install it. However, it uses a 1/2" down rod and only comes with 6" in length. No one carries 1/2" down rods, or the grey color, and I made multiple trip to try to find one. I finally had to make an emergency run while the electrician was at the house to go buy a different fan.

Very nice fan. We have gotten many compliments on it. Only gave it a 4 star because it's a very dim light. We brought new bulbs, but you can only put so many watts in it. Going to have to buy a floor lamp to get some added light in my dining room.

Great looking fan for th money
I chose this fan over a Hampton Bay in spite of some unsettling comments in the reviews. I'm glad I did, as I did not find anything myself that would warrant them. Our options were limited due to a few factors not really negotiable with us: it had to be black/dark, had to have a light kit, and had to take medium base bulbs that I could replace with LED. I didn't want proprietary/non-replaceable lighting or custom bulbs causing me to buy something different for every fixture in the house. This fit on all those counts, even though it came with a remote I didn't need (was installing new wiring anyway so may as well put in 14/3 and a combo wall switch rather than depend on a remote that may fail or get lost.) And it also was a down rod installation when I would have preferred a close to ceiling mount for my ceiling height. Oh well, it could have been more flexible on the installation options, but we took the best option given our choices. That said, I'm very happy with the purchase. The fan was relatively easy to install despite the lack luster instructions. (Others mention the difficulty installing the blades, but it's really nothing to whine about as long as you have a magnetic screwdriver. In fact, since I don't, I just used the attachment from my screw gun to start them and then finished with a regular driver. Easy-peasy.) Once installed the fan is SUPER quiet and smooth and looks "fan"-tastic. Prices and stock went up and down so don't forget to check that big a to z online retailer and compare.

                    Great fan!
This fan is designed with refined aesthetics, this ceiling fan features a gun metal finish and the versatile Zander also includes a two-light opal frosted glass fixture that provides ample illumination and an attractive accent. It was fairly easy to install and instructions were clear. Another feature, is the three fan speeds and a reversible switch for customized comfort. Run the ceiling fan counterclockwise to stay cool in the summer, or run it clockwise to recirculate warm air and eliminate cold spots in the winter.

                    Great Ceiling Fan
I have installed probably 6-7 ceiling fans and I can tell you if that you like the look of this one then go get it. The price is right and the quality is solid. Installation is pretty straight forward and most homeowners can tackle this on their own. Just be careful when doing the wiring and turn off the breaker (and confirm that it is indeed off). Play close attention to the order of the components as you install them and run the wire through them. If you mess it up you may need to pull it apart again. Installing the fan blades can be a bit finicky and I have seen easier mechanisms for attaching these but there is by no means a flaw with how they are installed.

                    Whisper quiet motion
Beautiful fan and very quiet movement. Love the fact you do not see the usual hardware for the blade installation however, because the screws are attached to the fan inside the housing, this makes for a very difficult and time consuming installation. I myself have installed a few fans in the past but this one is definitely a two person job. You need someone to hold the blade steady while the other person attaches the blades. Once up, it is a very beautiful and elegant fan. We chose the applewood side of the blade as it pairs very nicely with the gunmetal finish of the casing and down rod. The light casing is frosted which is great, no bright lights shinning in you face. Love the quietness of the fan motor and movement of the blades. Awesome fan but difficult installation.

                    Very difficult install fan blades
I have installed numerous brands of ceiling fans, but this is by far the most difficult. There is an inspection area on the top of the fan where the plate needs to be removed. The blade slips in and the blade fan holes need to be lined up with the motor through this small inspection hole. While holding the blade you have to hold onto the screw, screwdriver and not drop the screw into the housing!! Fan may look great, but good luck installing three screws per blade and not dropping the screws in the housing even with a magnetized screwdriver this is close to impossible. Horrible design!
