Closed dishwasher set in modern kitchen.

Fingerprint-Resistant Steel Dishwasher with Sensor cycle

We designed dishwashers with flexible features like the Sensor cycle that detects soils in your load then picks the right wash and dry settings for the kind of clean you need, or you can speed things up with the 1-Hour Wash cycle.

Dishwasher interior showing TotalCoverage spray arm shooting water jets.

TotalCoverage spray arm

Cleans with twice the jets (Compared to WHIRLPOOL dishwasher without TotalCoverage spray arm) for more coverage while a smarter sequence of spray patterns from multiple nozzles hits your dishes with increased water pressure.

Man's hand placing dirty casserole dish in lower rack.

Sensor cycle

Automatically selects the right wash and dry settings for your load by using two separate sensors to measure temperature, soil level and load size.

Dishwasher interior showing white plates being sprayed with water.

1-Hour Wash cycle

Cleans dishes in half the time (Compared to Normal cycle with lightly soiled load) so your plates, pans and glasses are thoroughly cleaned up in just an hour.

Dishwasher set in modern, lived-in kitchen.

Tap Touch controls

Clean these controls as easily as you use them.

Fully loaded dishwasher with door open, lower rack out and silverware basket visible underneath.

In-door silverware basket

Frees up rack space by easily fitting on the front of the lower rack or in the door to make room for more dishes.

About This Product

Get the right clean for your dishes with this stainless steel dishwasher. Choose the Sensor cycle and let your stainless steel dishwasher pick the right cycle for you, then get more water pressure with the TotalCoverage spray arm that cleans with twice the jets. Finish up with dry dishes thanks to the stainless steel tub.

Highlights

  • Tap touch controls clean as easily as you use them
  • Quiet 47 dBA operation allows you to run the dishwasher without disrupting your home
  • Generously sized interior provides the space and loading flexibility necessary to accommodate 15 place settings
  • Soil sensor determines how dirty dishes are and adjusts the normal cycle as needed to make sure dishes come out clean
  • Sani rinse option sanitizes dishes by eliminating 99.99% of food and bacteria
  • Energy star certified models exceed government standards to help save money on your utility bills
  • Stainless steel tub promotes drying by retaining heat from wash and rinse cycles; plus, it cools faster than the dishes so moisture can condense on the interior walls and not the dishes
  • Total coverage spray arm cleans with twice the jets for more coverage while a smarter sequence of spray patterns from multiple nozzles hits your dishes with increased water pressure; compared to Whirlpool brand dishwasher without Total coverage spray arm
  • Sensor cycle automatically selects the right wash and dry settings for your load by using 2 separate sensors to measure temperature, soil level and load size once during the prewash and once during the wash cycle; plus, the cycle ends when dishes are clean
  • 1-hour wash cycle cleans dishes in half the time so your plates, pans and glasses are thoroughly cleaned up and taken care of in just an hour; compared to normal cycle with lightly soiled loads
  • Cycle status indicator in the full lit display glows for wash, drain, drying, sanitized and clean along with the time in hours and minutes so there's no need to guess when your dishes will be ready
  • Heavy cycle takes care of heavily soiled messes and other hard-to-clean dishes without the extra elbow grease by adding extra time to the cycle
  • High temperature wash option gives items like baby bottles, glassware or dishes a more thorough clean
  • Use a clean, dry dish straight from the dishwasher thanks to added heat for drying; for optimal drying results, use this option with rinse aid

Q:I have used various dishwashing cleaners weekly Running White vinegar thru a Wash now! Have also ordered Affresh Dishwasher Cleaning tabs! Told by Whirlpool to not use Dishwasher until a Tech can inspect end of September

Answer This Question

A:  Doesn't sound like a dishwasher problem. If you have checked the screen at the bottom for trapped food and its clean, I might suggest that some animal (mouse?) crawled under the dishwasher and met an untimely death. Take off the bottom cover and check.

by|Sep 13, 2020

A:  No. I have never had an odor like that from my dishwasher. That does not sound good. You should stop using it.

    by|Sep 13, 2020

A:  not sure what your odor is but ours smells within two days also. foul smell not chemical though. I think its because this whirlpool dishwasher, that we hate, always has water left in the sump at the bottom. I think that's what starts smelling. Our Samsung at our Mass house washes much better and no smells after many days. However it just stopped working after only 18 months and only a 12 month warranty. Its an electronic control board problem with flashing lights. We have a GE basic dishwasher at another house that i installed 25 years ago and its still running just fine and cleans the dishes the best. please let us know what your tech comes up with for an answer What a shame they can't make good appliances anymore.

Q:Im a bit confused. On the specs it says "Cut-out height 34"", then in another spec is says "Height-minimum 33.5"". My height from floor to top of cut out is 33 5/8". Will it fit?? Thanks for any help, Im not good at this stuff.

    Answer This Question

A:  Short answer. YES. Measured from the lowest point on the underside of the countertop. May be reduced to 33 1/2" by removing the wheels and perforated area of insulation (blanket) on dishwasher. See the attached file for more info

    by|Sep 5, 2020

A:  I'm not sure on these specs. Looks like you have an 1/8 of an inch to spare so it should fit. I know that most dishwashers are designed to fit a common opening size. Not like refrigerators that come in all shapes and sizes. They sell dishwashers to replace old ones as well as put in new construction and they don't expect the home owner to have to cut the counters to fit them in. I have done three complete house remodels since i've been retired in the past 4 years. Built a new house for ourselves 30 years ago. We bought a Whirlpool appliance package for the Florida remodel and have not liked any of them. The dishwasher especially we hate!! It doesn't clean the dishes well at all. Even on the two hour last forever cycle. So when we did the Massachusetts remodel we went with the Samsung package. We have liked all of them so far. In the 30 year old house that my daughter lives in now, there is an old GE basic machine that cleans very well and in a short time. It might use a little more water but runs for less time and i assume uses less electricity. They just don't make things like they use to.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced our 11 year old dishwasher and we are pleasantly pleased with how quiet it is. We like the third rack and the overall efficiency of the cleaning power. The style really pops in our kitchen.

            Falling Apart
I've been using this dishwasher for 4 years. Since then, the small plastic pieces have been breaking off, and more recently the top rack disconnected from one of the track wheels. Now I have to get it fixed before it completely falls down. I purchased all Whirlpool appliances when I renovated my kitchen, and I can honestly say in my next home, I will NOT be buying Whirlpool.

              Poor quality parts
A plastic part breaks off the dish rack about once a month and I find myself using zip ties to keep the thing together. Really, really poor quality parts...

                  A longtime Whirlpool customer.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have use whirlpool dishwashers with the silver ware tray in the door fir over 40 years and have always been very pleased so when I built my new house, of course, I had to have one. I love the color and how it runs very quietly, however, there are several new features that I don’t like. First of all you have to add a drying agent to help with the drying and that still leaves some moisture. Second, the silverware tray has a cover with holes too tiny for the silverware to fit so have to leave the covers open. Also the latch to open the silverware tray doesn’t open easily. Change is not always a good thing. Think you should go back to the old style.

                      Great Dishwasher!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this dishwasher a couple of months ago and absolutely love it! We chose this one because it matches our refrigerator. Our old dishwasher was built in the 1990's. I was practically washing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Now I can just rinse off the big pieces of food and put them in the dishwasher. It runs very quiet and the dishes are spotless when they come out. Very, very happy with this purchase.

                        What a difference
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was never one for using a dish washer except during holidays with so many dirty dishes. We moved into a home that had out dated appliances and the dishwasher was at least 20 yrs old still operating which was a Whirlpool. We decided to replace the appliances but didn’t purchase a new dishwasher right away. Two years later I felt it was time when the hinges were so rusted that they broke. The new one is a dream. So quiet and so many good features. There is no guilt using it even when our dish load is minimal as it’s just the two of us.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought the Whirlpool dishwasher when we remodeled our kitchen. It is very roomy inside with lots of space for large items, as well as plenty of room for eating and cooking utensils.
