How loud is the dishwasher

can you have a normal conversation in the same small room without having to raise your voice? The decimal number won't help unless you can give me the most quiet number to the loudest. Thank you

The Home Depot installation went well and the washer ran correctly from the first day on. We chose this model because it was well-reviewed on Consumer Reports, with special notice given to how quiet it runs, and because it fit in our tight budget. We can confirm that it runs surprisingly quiet for a relatively low-cost washer, certainly much, much quieter than our previous machine (a Magic Chef that came with our condo). The controls are reasonably easy to figure out. We have found that we have to do at least some pre-washing of dishes, such as knives with leftover peanut butter on them, pans with slightly burned pasta sauce or if used to brown ground turkey, that type of thing. To be fair, we have only used the Normal wash cycle so perhaps one of the other cycles would get that peanut butter off. Otherwise dishes come out clean. We can't comment on how well things dry because, to save on energy costs, we never use Heated Dry, preferring to let things air dry. So, overall, we are happy with this Whirlpool Dishwasher and recommend it as a very good lower cost machine.

Works great. You can take the silverware basket off the door and put it in the main dishwasher if you like. Everything gets super clean. Make sure you use jet dry or a similar product for these newer dishwashers though that way your dishes come out dry

This model offers good digital controls, including a 4-hour delay mode, considering it's budget price. The flexible silverware basket is another nice feature. Contrary to other reviews, it is significantly louder than expected; primarily from water against the tub; it may quiet down some with a full load. We noted several disadvantages that led to the average rating. First, the construction; The plastic tub is flimsier than others I've installed. That is reflected in the light overall weight of this unit, and the tub noise we noticed in operation. Continuing the theme of cheap plastic construction, the kick plate is a piece of black plastic, held on by proprietary plastic quarter-turn fasteners; a nuisance to find replacements for when they inevitably break down the road. Whats wrong with time-tested metal screws? Like many new dishwashers, this one uses the garden hose style water inlet. Unlike some others, the adapter is not included. You will find the needed fitting in most installation kits you can buy separately. Installation went smoothly, with a couple of exceptions. The insulation blanket is poorly attached, and it will not stay in place when the unit is slid into position. Duct taping the back of it to the tub solves that issue. The brackets that secure the tub to the countertop are not long enough for typical formica counter construction. If you encounter this, the unit may have to be positioned about 1/2 inch further out than one would like. It has the typical tall-tub low clearance underneath. It helps to have skinny arms and a 3/16 inch socket on a 1/4 inch drive ratchet to reach the rear height adjusters. Inexplicably, the drain hose exit from the pump interferes with the location of the water inlet; one can work around it, but why did they design it that way? All in all, it's a cheaply made dishwasher that seems to work okay once installed. Who knows how long it will last. It does not deserve glowing reviews in my opinion. Build-wise, it compares poorly to the last Samsung we installed, but reviews indicate those have their own reliability issues. I would advise spending a little more for a nicer machine, if possible.

I purchased this dishwasher on 3/30/15 and threw it out yesterday, 1/14/18. It did not even make it 3 years. The main wash motor stopped working about a month ago. I replaced the main wash motor with a factory original, and the replacement motor also burned out after 30 days. Instead of throwing good money after bad, I decided to go purchase a new dishwasher by a company other than Whirlpool. I was able to get a much better model from another retailer for about the same price. Would not recommend.

We were replacing a 9 yr old similar whirlpool dishwasher and liked this one because of the moveable silverware basket. The first one that arrived had a broken handle so we had to wait another week or so for the second one. We added the sample bottle of rinse aid and ran a load. The dishes on the top rack, especially those made of plastic, do not dry. In our previous model, some of the tines on the top rack were adjustable and would fold down so we could make space for larger bowls or baskets. With this model, they do not fold. If you have a basket like the type used with baby bottles it may not fit without the tines going through the middle of the basket. I also think that the top rack is smaller than the old one. It's harder to fit some of the things that used to fit without issue. There's easily an inch on either side of the top rack that could have been utilized. Poor design. It's frustrating to say the least. If I could return this, I would. We're also waiting on a whirlpool washer and dryer and I'm anxious about performance issues with them as well. The brand does not seem to be as robust as it once was. Am 100% sure this won't last 9 years like the last one did.

Got my WDF520PADW and its GREAT thought 55db would be same as my old/broken GE dishwasher. BUT no!!! it makes no noise and have open window in my Cape between kitchen/living room and do not have to raise volume like old machine when watching TV. Cleans dishs and glasses great, and racks hold more stuff now that I run out of clean dish's and have to turn it on !!!! Love the hang on door silverware basket because you can do more dish's. Plus it uses only 3 1/2 gallons of water vs old GE at 8 gallons. Energy Star is nice !!!!

I bought this dishwasher on sale to replace the Whirlpool DW I already had, which worked fine after 10yrs except detergent dispenser wouldn't open when cycle was started. It fit into the space perfectly. This replacement---same brand---same size: 18" built-in---doesn't fit into the space properly (had to have installers return to adjust and still doesn't fit); plus I'm not even sure the dry cycle works. Whether on "Hi-Temp" dry or "Heated Dry" the interior is still wet or damp when cycle is complete. Have to dry by hand before putting dishes away. "I" should be paid to have to put up with it.
