How loud is the dishwasher

can you have a normal conversation in the same small room without having to raise your voice? The decimal number won't help unless you can give me the most quiet number to the loudest. Thank you

I'm 35 years old and am still calling my Dad to troubleshoot this thing. It is less than 2 years old. I clean this dishwasher more than I clean my dishes. Which is saying a lot, because I have to re-wash all the dishes that go through this thing. And I have a family of 6 that eats often. We've had the installation checked on 3 separate occasions. We've had a plumber out to "ram" the disposal drain. Why? Because since this thing was installed, my kitchen smells like sewer every time it runs. I've changed detergents, I've used dishwashing cleaners, I've resorted to running bleach through the thing twice. Why? Because after about 2 washes, the entire machine starts to grow orange goo (repeatedly). Lots and lots of goo. Mold? Grease buildup? (I'm a vegetarian cook, so unlikely). Alien remains? Who knows. I'm going shopping for another dishwasher today. I'm too young to develop the heart disease that this machine is giving me. SAVE YOURSELF. Do not buy. If you do, invest in white vinegar stock. You'll need it.

It should be a complete embarrassment to Home Depot to be selling such a poor quality product. First my order of a complete suite of Whirlpool products was back ordered for multiple months. Customer service at Whirlpool and their delivery company continues to be a nightmare! Then when the order was finally delivered this product did not function properly. The heated drying did not work from day one. After 4 wash cycles the "Normal" wash cycle stopped functioning. Then the "Heavy" was cycle worked for 1 wash cycle. Now after only having/utilizing the "brand new" dishwasher for less than 3 weeks the unit no longer functions. The blue light goes on for 30 seconds and then turns off; very expensive 30 second mini night light!!! Multiple emails to customer service unanswered, long wait times on hold and relatively unhelpful customer support when the call is finally answered. This is a complete and utter disappointment to a made in the USA product from my own home state.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Dish Washer. Cleans well, and is very quiet. Be warned if replacing an older dish washer. This is a high efficiency, HE, dish washer not high performance. In other words, it doesn't dry the dishes the same way as older models. We called Whirlpool after a week, and a service technician came out. We thought the heating element was broken. Our old unit would sizzle if water was dropped on it when drying. The service technician said to me: "here, feel this". The heating element gets warm but not sizzling hot like older units. New units are HE, with plastic tubs instead of steel or ceramic. The tub would melt and it would not be energy efficient if designed like older units. Ours didn't dry dishes until the service technician told me about the sterile rinse option. That uses the heating element during rinsing, which raises the temperature and evaporates the water during drying. In other words, the dishes dry themselves during the dry cycle, not the heating element. FYI before calling in a service technician.

The top rack has two plastic pieces that are what keep the rack from rolling off and onto the floor. We've only had this unit for 4 months and it's already lost one of them. Now the other one is coming off. Once it pops off, it's infuriating to figure out how to get it back on. I am a business analyst who works with engineers all day and it still takes me 5-10 minutes every time because it's just not obvious how it should go.VERY annoying. And now, because of this weak design point, I have to make a warranty call to get a new part which, I'm quite sure now that I see how it was designed, is going to pop of again in very short order. The washer does a decent job of cleaning otherwise. But do note: if you don't use drying chemicals, it will NOT dry the dishes. This bothers me because I don't want to add even more chemicals to a chemical process. It wasn't log ago this wasn't required. A dishwasher actually dried the dishes without needing surfactants and whatever else is in those drying chemicals (and drying right on the dishes you put your food on).

Have only had the DW for a few weeks, but so far it works well and looks great for the price. Installation was timely and friendly. The machine is very quiet, and has just a few basic settings, which I really like. I have two complaints. 1) the top left rack rail was installed backwords, so I had to take it apart, and figure out how to get it flipped. It took about 30 minutes to fix, and to put the rails back on. This brings me the second issue. 2) the gray plastic end caps that keep the rack from sliding right off and crashing are flimsy, tricky to attach, and fall off easily. One has come off 4 times and one of these days one will break or get stepped on. I am going to request a bunch of replacements from Home Depot to have on hand. You can see the cap in the picture below. The DW is the same as our former Sears elite which was still working fine after 15 years, but we wanted a stainless look. Hope this one does as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent All I was really looking for in a dishwasher was dishes to come out clean and dry. I do like this one, it has a nice appearance, modern and sleek, and is suuuuuper quiet compared to any other dishwashers I have heard. I was surprised at how quiet it is!! Love that because I have a lot of people in my house and have to run it often, so it doesn't overpower the whole room with noise. They suggest a rinse aid to help drying and I have used one, but it wasn't perfectly dry. When I don't use one, the dishes are really wet and that bothers me a lot! Even when I set it on the heat dry cycle (which is always). The only other things is that I am still trying to find the best way to load it to get the most in and still get things clean, since the top rack is a little narrow for some of my cups. But for it being one of the lowest priced out there I am happy overall. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The Home Depot installation went well and the washer ran correctly from the first day on. We chose this model because it was well-reviewed on Consumer Reports, with special notice given to how quiet it runs, and because it fit in our tight budget. We can confirm that it runs surprisingly quiet for a relatively low-cost washer, certainly much, much quieter than our previous machine (a Magic Chef that came with our condo). The controls are reasonably easy to figure out. We have found that we have to do at least some pre-washing of dishes, such as knives with leftover peanut butter on them, pans with slightly burned pasta sauce or if used to brown ground turkey, that type of thing. To be fair, we have only used the Normal wash cycle so perhaps one of the other cycles would get that peanut butter off. Otherwise dishes come out clean. We can't comment on how well things dry because, to save on energy costs, we never use Heated Dry, preferring to let things air dry. So, overall, we are happy with this Whirlpool Dishwasher and recommend it as a very good lower cost machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty decent machine, quite too for the money. This is a straightforward simple controls/features dishwasher that is quiet than my old broken Frigidaire. I installed it myself. The instruction are very clear for replacement or new installations. Comes with the drain hose but you will need to have the water supply hose and also need to have a certain 3/8 in compression to 3/4 garden hose connector brass fitting. The newer dishwashers now needs this. Unfortunately this brass fitting doesn't come with your dishwasher. You can get this fitting separately at the blue box store or when you buy then dishwasher water supply hose some come with this fitting too. Note that when you lay out the waterline, the discharge line and the electrical line on the floor make sure the discharge water line is a bit to the right of center cause the connection to the dishwasher is on the left side pointing toward the front. Other than that it works well. I moved the utensil rack from the door onto the lower rack.
