Questions & Answers

Not spin dry complaint on many comments

What are the users doing so that many, many of them say the clothes are dripping wet after the cycle?
Asked by: Fundiyacko01
When I run a "normal" load of clothes such as shirts, pants, undergarments and even sweats it works just fine. When I do a load with heavy work clothes like carhartt pants and such (even on a heady duty cycle) it stays wet. Same for towels, sheets, blankets - whether it's run on a normal or heavy cycle. I've simply been running a separate spin cycle after those loads if I notice they're still soaking wet and that does spin it dry. It's very unfortunate that this happens. I'm pretty dissatisfied with the purchase unfortunately.

Mine is stuck on sensing mode, how can it be fixed?

I have only had it since July. It will spin a little bit and add water as it’s sensing, but thats it.

Mine is stuck too. After reading all these answers for THE VERY SAME ISSUE I’m going to unload and reload. Meanwhile, the dirty Laundry piles up. Wish I still had my Cabrio.

My machine is VERY LOUD...Actually sounds like a jet plane..It works perfectly fine, but the sound is really annoying.

Asked by: Pats
If it's still in warranty, I would call immediately and have them come look at it. Mine was loud in spin cycle and progressively got worse. Finally called after I saw grease spewing out the bottom and searching online and discovering it was a bad bearing - which I think is a product defect. Called the repairman as it was 6 months out of warranty. The machine is only 3 1/2 years old. Pathetic. He knew immediately what it was and said it costs $400 to fix. REALLY!!! That is practically buying a new one. WILL NEVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL AGAIN. VERY CHEAPLY MADE AND JUST DISGUSTED WITH IT! And from the internet, I am not the only one with this problem.

Why place an "American Made" sticker on it? It is a shameful product. It doesn't let you do anything you want. It decreases or increase the temp of water, it never gives you enough water to wash with. All loads have to be small. The rinse cycle is 3 minutes. I have hard water, and I need the softener to soak in for a long time. This machine operates and sound exactly like a low flow toilet. Followed the directions and, it basically says this thing only gives you ask much water as it thinks you need, and it will be forever frustrating and useless. When the water drains out it, it sounds like a toilet emptying. No softener dispenser, so I have the mother hen this thing to get catch when it might rinse. Fiance bought this with absolutely no research. He went in and bought the first thing he saw. Everything broken on our old 14 yr old washer is what is standard crap on this new washer. I wish I could throw the washer off a tall building . I HATE THIS THING.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't listen to the idiots on here This is an excellent washer. Some of the hotheads on here have no idea how to separate load types and just like to throw it all in at once and then get personalized results. Listen this washer is designed to use less water. So then you must use less soap. This is going to give a higher concentration of soap anyway and get cleaner clothes. Whichever guy said it doesn't agetate obviously got a lemon, and if he considered the fact that these are mass produced and that happens sometimes then all would be well. God is testing your patience buddy. Anyway, I sold these units and others like them for almost 7 years. My title was a Large Appliance Consultative Sales Expert, and when I get home this is the washer I come home to. I believe this style does the best job. I also have 6 dogs and need a great washer to handle. My best advice to anyone buying any new appliance is for you to buy the 5 year warranty cause no matter what you buy most likely you'll end up using the warranty Robert R. Tempe, AZ

We bought this product in August 2016, and it's now broken (November 2018). We previously used LG and Maytag washers and it would last 7+ years with no issue. This one stopped working in about 2 years which was very disappointing. We called a repairman who confirmed that it's a broken motor and the issue is due to bad manufacturing wiring. I called Whirlpool customer service and they didn't really care or bother to do anything about it. They don't seem shock that their motor stopped working within 2 years. Overall, customer service is not great and they're not really going to try to help you. We're not going to bother to fix this because it's not going to be worth it at all. Going back to the store to pick up and LG or Maytag. This was our first whirlpool product and will unfortunately be our last. If the customer service was better, we might have given them a 2nd chance...but unfortunately that was not the case. I asked the customer service department to please log this issue so that other consumers won't experience this same frustration but i don't know if that'll make any difference. Just spend a little more money and get a better brand like LG and Maytag and you won't regret it!

Works great, gets the clothes very clean with very little water, will wash things like dog beds that didn't fit in my old washer with the agitator in the middle. Another thing I like is it doesn't get out-of-balance in the spin cycle and start sounding like it's going to tear itself apart, like the old washers did. The way it's made means the spin always works, if out of balance or not. The cycle runs longer than my old machine, you have to plan for that. You also can't overload it -- it tells you how much you can put in one load, and it means it! You can't do 10 towels or 10 pairs of jeans in one load, it won't wash or spin properly. It's a little more picky about how you load the clothes in the machine than the old ones were -- if you don't follow its instructions, the sensor function can't figure out the load and therefor doesn't wash it well. I think many of the poor reviews are probably from people who didn't read the instructions and/or are overloading it.

It works great initially, which is why there are so many nice reviews. But the parts are cheap (hence, the cheap price) and your washer will, sooner or later, break down. Brand new, ours lasted 2 years and 5 months before the drain cycle stopped working. My husband was able to trouble shoot, find the broken part (how we discovered many of the parts are cheap plastic), and order a replacement, but then 1 month later the wash cycle stopped working. We're currently waiting on 2 more parts to arrive so we can replace and see if it will work, but if not we are tossing it and buying a new machine. Today a friend of mine told me she's on her 2nd machine in 4 months, with this being the 4th time it has broken down due to "faulty manufacturer parts." Seriously, save a little longer and purchase a better quality machine because this one is a joke. We haven't had any problems with the matching dryer, but at this point we wouldn't be surprised.

You have to use the Bulky Item/Sheet level to get a high enough water level to wash anything. Once you push the start button and by chance you only had one item in it you have to stop the wash and restart it. You can't just turn it to the wash you really wanted. It stopped working 2 weeks ago. YEAH!!!! We have changed different parts (My husband refuses to give up). The repair companies we have called or bought the parts from said with the high efficiency these washing machines do not last that long. My husband said "It is only 2 years old". He was told by the time you have us come out, diagnose it, put the part on it, it will be atleast half the cost of a new one. Because they do not last that long anymore your might as well get a new one. We will be looking for another one today. I guarantee it will not be a high efficiency and it will have an agitator. It is a shame companies do not stand by their product and the manufacture of the brands are so limited.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from miserable I've had this washer for a week now and can hardly wait for it to break so I can get one with an actual agitator (hope manufacturers have guts enough to continue to manufacture them) This washer though does not have a lint collector in the washer, no rinse dispenser (have to purchase a dispenser ball), when I set it for HOT water, it adds cold water to it. If I want HOT water, I want HOT water not a machine to decide for me. Clothes come out more wrinkled and tangled. Hardly enough water in the tub to really wash clothes even with the deep water setting. I can't set the time for the washing, i.e., 8 minutes or 15 min. How can a machine know to do the laundry? I would alike to have my old machine of 27 years (with a suds saver) back. i consider this whirlpool machine unworthy of being called a washing machine. I am so sorry I went for the song and dance fro, the salespersons about this being the machine being the wonderful brilliant item of the future. Boy did I fall for the song and dance.

A lot of the 1-3 star reviews seem to have the following themes: -too loud, -no fabric softener option (really? read the description), -takes too long, -no agitator (again, really, it's in the description!), -delivery sucked (this does not have anything to do with the washer). Now, on to the stuff I like. I have used washers my whole life (never had to wash clothes in the tub nor near a river). I had basic expectations- I want clean clothes, I want a low-cost unit, and I want the machine not to break. So far, I've got all those things covered. This machine is surprisingly quiet. I was expecting it to be super loud (based on a few reviews I read), but now I'm wondering if people have their laundry room by a bedroom and are therefore expecting quiet background noise? I made the mistake the first couple of times putting too much detergent in and the clothes coming out dingy. I was ready to jump on the complaint bandwagon regarding not having clean clothes in a clothes washer. Then, I read up on how HE top-load washers work and realized I used waaayyy too much detergent. As a mid-30s American, I did not expect to ever have to read up on how to wash clothes! I keep the unit at deep water, 2 rinses, and pre-soak as the default just because it makes me feel better when doing laundry. I adjust the soil level and temperature as needed. Clothes come out wet and smelling clean (I mean, isn't that the point of a washer?) and nothing is sopping wet nor dry. I've been using the unit for over a month and have washed approximately 25 loads (2 adults, 1 baby in the house).
