Yes, all the new ranges have a "safety" feature built in so the element doesn't overheat and it keeps cycling on and off. It takes an hour to bring a pot of water to boil to make pasta. Very annoying feature that had to be the bright idea of someone who has never cooked. I purchased a Canning element for about $45.00 from Home Depot to replace one of my elements with. It heats up quickly and does not cycle on and off.

Takes forever to boil water
Whirlpool range came with my brand new house. The coils do not heat up evenly. Takes well over 45 minutes to boil water.

Replace the coils
I had problems boiling water. It took over 1hour to even start boiling not even rolling boil. When you first turned it on,the whole burner is red and heated up,then after 5 minutes, the inner ring goes off and only the outer one is hot .I thought I had gotten a faulty stove. I am not at all happy with the coils.it almost takes 4 to 5 years of cooking. It does not heat enough to deep fry fishes ,fries.this stove is useless to me

Whirlpool 4.8 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Stainless Steel, Silver (model WF...
Whirlpool 4.8 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Stainless Steel, Silver (model WFC310S0ES) with broiler. PROS: The closest model I could find to my old school ROPER electric ovens including coil burners and simplicity to use without having a delicate glass top (this one looks like high gloss steel). It is much lighter than the old stoves so it is much easier to move. CONS: The coil smart feature aka safety feature has a little knob that sticks up a tiny bit and causes the lighter weight pans to not sit completely flat on the burners. A heavier pan this won’t be a problem because its weight will cause the smart feature to depress down and so the pan will sit flat. Most of my pans are cheap lightweight pans so I’ll have to replace them. However, my RACHEL RAY frying pans have a long heavy handle and a lighter weigh bowl so these didn’t sit flat. The smart feature button also causes tin coil covers not to be able to sit flat on the coils too. This can be remedied by using heavier pans and/or changing the burners out for ones without the smart feature but the trade off is features like the “keep warm” function won’t trigger. I paid $629 and ordered the plug kit and the removal of my old oven option. GOOD NEWS: It turned out this model actually came with its own plug so I get a credit of $25 for the kit I bought that I didn’t need. I've read every review and hope to address common complaints and clear up some confusion for those contemplating buying this oven. Specifically concerning were reviews about dents and burners not boiling water fast enough. I made a check list of those type of things to check BEFORE they came and made sure to go through each one by one before the delivery guys left. The delivery guys set the clock up and tested the burners with me and showed me how to operate the oven, timer, and coil burners. BTW my oven arrived in perfect condition, there are no dents, and no problems with the burners. (see below “burners”). DAY OF DELIVERY: I got that call from the delivery guy at 9:46am, he left a message letting me know they were on route to my house and would be there in about 20 min (I was home but away from the phone). They arrived at 9:00am. They were done at 9:21am and left around 9:30am. Their names were Carlos and Corey and their delivery company is BARLOW’S. Both were professional appearance, polite and friendly. It was raining so we had to put down a few towels to keep my floor from anyone slipping. STRONG ADVICE = PREPARE: clear path & have cleaning supplies ready: 1. Make sure to be ready and prepared BEFORE delivery person arrives. Make sure your walkway and entry into your kitchen is clear of anything that would impede them carrying in your new oven. Bikes, planters, doormats, anything that is in the way of their path from their truck to inside your house to your kitchen. 2. Remove all your old pans from underneath your old stove and have it ready to be removed because that is the first thing the delivery guys will do. 3. Have a broom and cleaning supplies ready so when they remove your old oven you can quickly clean the years of dust and gunk left behind. For me it was 33 years, but it wasn't too bad and cleaned up in 5 min with a broom and a towel and 409 cleaner. The delivery guy gave me time to clean it, and he was out at his truck getting the new oven during this time. But have things ready so they don't have to wait around past 5 min. 4. Secure your pets since the door will need to remain open as they deliver and remove your old oven. I put my cat in my room and closed the door until they left. For dogs it would be best to secure them as well. You’ll want your delivery to go as smooth and efficient as possible. 5. Have a list of all questions and features you want to check BEFORE they leave. That way if anything is wrong you can just have them take it back that day, rather than having them come back out again. Have a pan with water in it to time how long it takes for your water to boil. I used a small sauce pan. We also turned on all burners on “high” to make sure they all worked. BURNERS: We turned on all 4 of the coil burners on high, it took 1:52 minutes to reach red hot. There is a smart feature on them that when a pan puts its weight down it triggers the smart functions like the keep food warm feature. This does NOT affect the burner going on nor getting red hot. But it is raised up about ¼” and causes light weight pans to not sit flush. Burner bowls are thinner, not as thick and durable as the old school stoves, but I imagine that is across the board of all new ovens being made these days. In my day we used to wrap them in aluminum foil to keep clean. It appears you can do this on these as well and since I am a messy cook I will probably be doing that! BOILING WATER TIME: Note that I used a SMALL SAUCE PAN: Water started bubbling at 2 min, boiling at 2:40 min and very hard boiling at 3 min. This is the same as my old school ROPER oven. I told the delivery guy that I had to test the boil time while they were there because if it took 30 min I would not want it. (I had read other reviews people complaining it took “30 min”to boil water). So they obliged me. He also said that if it takes anyone 30 min to boil water that means something is not right. So anyone out there that complains about boiling taking 30 min and then having to call to get another oven, this is completely avoidable: HAVE YOUR SMALL SAUCE PAN WITH WATER IN IT TO TEST BEFORE THEY LEAVE!! Just explain to them about those reviews about 30 min, they will understand. Anyone out there that used a very large pan to boil water, it actually does take a long time even in the old school stoves. So what I’m saying is that it takes the same amount of time as my old school ROPER regardless of pan size. BURNERS SMART FEATURE: Burners have a silver round metal part in the center of the burner that depresses down when the pan sits on it. It maybe be a safety feature but also alerts the oven to use other features like “keep food warm.” The problem for me is that it is raised up about ¼” so it causes lightweight pans not to sit completely flat. BURNERS NOT SITTING FLAT: Because of the smart feature button my burners did not sit all the way flat when I used my cheap lightweight pans nor my RACHEL RAY frying pans that have heavy long handles, but did when I used my heavier fry pans. So cheap flimsy pans should not be used on this stove. OPTION TO USE COIL COVERS: Coil covers that used to fit on my ROPER stove do NOT fit because the burner’s smart feature extends ¼” inch above the coils. So they fit over the top but sit lop sided. I like to use coil covers so I will look around for different coil covers – or – I may change out my burners to ones without the smart feature. NOTE: For anyone that wants you can change out the burners with other ones if you desire. But if you do that keep in mind the burners smart features will no longer work. So there’s a trade off. STOVE TOP COUNTER LIFTS UP FOR CLEANING: YES, this oven has a lift-up stove top with 2 little kick-stands to hold it up so you can clean under the entire stove top. To push it back down you press against the kickstands and lower it until it snaps into place. The counter itself is not glass and seems like high gloss metal just like the old-school stoves, so it is more durable and easier to keep clean. I did not see finger prints all over it forming like some reviewers mentioned. It appears to me to be the same material as my ROPER stainless steel oven counter top. OVEN LIGHT: Oven window is large and clear and the light automatically comes on when you open the oven AND there’s a button to push to turn the oven light on and off while the door is closed too. This is an awesome feature!! SIMPLE & BASIC OVEN: I am not much of a cook and just wanted a simple to use old-school stove/oven, easy to use with minimal buttons and simple basic programs and features. I was looking for an oven as close to my old-school coil stove made by ROPER and this was the closest. So this oven is perfect for me. It is also a good oven for my roommate who loves to cook. It’s simpler than my microwave and I like that. I also am accustomed to coil burners and did not want a glass top especially since they seem so hard to keep looking clean, some get worn looking along the top of the burners. Everything you set is easy, the clock, bake time, timer, just press a button and then hit “start” button. SELF CLEANING OVEN: Yes, this particular model has a self-cleaner that uses extreme heat to turn stuck on grime to ash (not water like the Aqua system) so this oven is much easier and uncomplicated. Just remember like most all self-cleaning ovens, you must remove the 2 racks before you do self-clean, as high heat will in time ruin the coating on the racks. NOTE: There is a cheaper model of this oven that does NOT have the self cleaning feature so make sure you check you’re ordering MODEL # WFC310S0ES to make sure you have the self-cleaning feature. BROILER: Yes, this model has a broiler at the top, and the heating coil for the regular baking along the bottom. There is a cheaper model that doesn’t have a broiler so make sure you’re ordering MODEL # WFC310S0ES to make sure you have a broiler.

I love my new stove! It looks great, cooks great and it doesn't stick out as far from the counter! I chose not to get a smooth glass top stove because I am so clumsy and would break it. The electric coils on my stove are perfect for me, clean well and heat evenly...I don't need fancy to have good quality! This stainless stove makes my ugly kitchen look so much better and I can see how nice my future kitchen is going to look!

This is a great looking stove! I have had this stove about a month. At first I was concerned that the black top would be hard to clean. Not so!! It cleans up nicely with soap and water. The burners are much hotter than my old stove so it takes a little getting used to. I haven't found anything I don't like about this stove. I love the way the oven heats up. It's on the digital read out as the temperature climbs. I also love the fact that the oven light comes on when you open the oven door! What a great feature! The timer doesn't give a long buzz like my old stove, it just beeps until you cancel the timer. Overall it has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this stove!!
