The kit came exactly as described and pictured. There are no instructions at all, so I disconnected my drain hose from my washing machine (Whirlpool Model # WTW4850HW) and discovered an elbow where it connects to the machine (Note: the other end of the original drain hose has a rigid J-hook that cannot be removed without cutting the hose). So I called Whirlpool customer support who sent me a link to a video on how to install the extension kit. Problem is, the video assumes a straight original drain hose (i.e., no elbow). Being a perfectionist, I was prepared to cut the original drain hose, buy and install an additional 4" connector with clamps. That's when I discovered considerably cheaper extension hoses that would have worked just find (albeit still not solving the elbow issue). Despite my careful measurements and taking the pieces with me, the connector I bought didn't fit with the extension kit hose, so ultimately I decided I could live with the elbow being in the middle of the extended drain hose. It looks dumb, but as long as the elbow doesn't interfere with the drainage, I'm okay with it--see the picture.

Could not use at all. Hose was way too stiff. Would not bend to attach to drain. Returned to store for refund.

it was somewhat difficult getting both hoses seated fully in the connecting sleeve, but it seems to be working well with no leaks. would have just preferred to have option to buy 6 or 8 foot replacement hose and reduce risk of a leak at joint.
