Based on prior answer, we can use convection and conventional on this Range. Will the fan complete stop when we use conventional baking? I look at the manual instruction. It seems like the fan is still on. So, what are the differences between CONVEC bake and conventional BAKE baking if the fan is still on? BAKE Baking and roasting 1. Press BAKE. 2. Press the Temp/Time up or down arrow keypad until desired temperature is reached. A tone will sound if the minimum or maximum temperature is reached. 3. Press the Start keypad. 4. To change the temperature, repeat Step 2. Press the Start keypad. 5. Press the Cancel keypad when finished. NOTE: The convection fan will shut off when the oven door is opened. If the oven door remains open for too long, the heating elements will shut off until the oven door is closed. All timers, including any active Cook Time or Timed Cook functions, will continue to count down
Asked by: ann
Hello ann! Yes, you can use both convection and conventional on this model. The fan may run to keep the control pad cool while using the conventional mode on this unit. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.

Customer Reviews

5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Fingerprint Resistant Black Stainless is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 478.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed This was a rather expensive range in my opinion, so I expected better (faster) performance. Preheat takes significantly longer than my 12+ year old GE range. That goes for regular preheat as well as convection, although convection preheat takes even longer, which makes me less likely to use it. Using the frozen bake feature doesn't help for cutting down on preheat time as the items I am baking are not pizza or lasagna and fries on frozen bake do not end up crispy. The timer isn't loud enough for me to hear in other rooms of the house and there is no way to adjust the volume that I can find in either the instructions or online. This was also something that wasn't a problem with my old range. This purchase was an indulgence for myself when I remodeled my kitchen. Now I just wish I had my old range back because it preheated super fast compared to the new Whirlpool range and I could hear the timer in other rooms. Or maybe I should have purchased a different brand. It just makes me feel sad and disappointed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I noticed some issues right away with the oven maintaining a consistent temperature. Then I noticed that the stainless steel frame on the glass door was separated about 1/2 inch out from the frame and the door made a loud cracking noise when fully opened. Called Whirlpool and they made an appointment but told me if this was deemed to be a cosmetic issue, I would be responsible to pay for the service call! Service man took apart and reassembled the door. Within an hour after leaving, the stainless frame again separated from the glass door and the cracking noise started again. Have to wait yet another week for another service call . Was told that if a new part is required, it would only have a six month warranty! Whirlpool needs to stand by its warranty claims. At this point, I need a new door or a new range. It has been faulty from the beginning. Home Depot does not want to get involved. I went down to the store and they told me to work with Whirlpool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, but wish the knobs were in front. It’s a beautiful appliance, and we love the features. My only complaint is that it is difficult for someone who has mobility issues to reach the controls and the burners. It came as part of a package of appliances with a house I built for my mom. Well, she is older and uses a wheelchair to get around and while she can use her grabber on the stove controls, it is difficult. She also has a little difficulty using the burners as the stove is about an inch to two inches too tall for her. I wish I had thought that part through a little more carefully. However, having said that - this stove is fantastic for fully able-bodied people! The heat is nice and consistent, it’s nice to look at and easy to clean! Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok range Have used my range/oven for a few months. Although it works ok, I only give it 'average' because of a couple of reasons. It takes quite a while to heat up to temperature and I don't like the shiny black cooktop very well. I wish it were somehow variegated so that it didn't show spills so badly. Even with the stovetop cleaners, it is difficult to keep it shiny clean if you use it at all. Also, I get annoyed by the oven temperature/timer. When setting the timer, I have inadvertantly shut the oven off a few times. You cannot see the oven temperature and timer at the same time so it's easy to cancel one when trying to set the other one. But aside from those issues, it works fine and is functional. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use with touch of old school flair. I replaced all my appliances and this was the key to why I went with whirlpool. The looks, function, and above all it actually works. What I mean by works is that for example my outgoing stove was a fairly Fancy model GE (over all a very comparable model) Yet it often would not match typical cooking recipe times. The pinnacle of this is the frozen lasagna test. With the GE after 2 hours of cooking there were still cold spots in the pan; not a problem with the whirlpool. I am a very busy parent of four and too have to replan a dinner on a tight schedule is unacceptable. I also like the display of the temp as the oven is warming up; let’s me help plan time on when to put stuff in oven better. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This stove has problems We bought this about 2 weeks ago. It had been damaged and had a dent in it; Lowes gave us 10% off which we appreciated. However, I noticed that the convection mode didn't seem to be working. It took as long to cook a pie as it would have on the regular bake mode. Finally, I noticed a grating noise when the convection mode was on. I used a long wood pick to check the fan and the fan had fallen off where it connects with the stove motor. We then contacted the store and are getting a replacement tomorrow. One thing I don't like is the alarm is very low and you cannot hear it if you are in another part of the house. Have other appliances with fingerprint resistant stainless steel, and it is truly very easy to keep clean. This black stove top seems a little easier to clean than my last range. I like the different size options of the burners on the stove top. My past stoves have had convection ovens also. I would definitely recommend. The oven takes a little long to preheat, so I am trying to allow the extra time. The signal that the temperature has been reached is very, very low. That would be my only complaint....but I certainly wouldn't dislike the stove for this reason.
