Whirlpool Front Control Built-in Tall Tub Dishwasher in Monochromatic Stainless Steel with 1-Hour Wash Cycle, 55 dBA is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9000.

It's an all-plastic unit, even some critical connectors. Washes dishes adequately, but silverware cleanliness lacks. Every load I've run leaves 3-5 pieces that require rewashing. Probably because the basket is recessed into the door and gets very little direct spray from the sprayers. The basket's lids have small holes. Any flare in your silverware and they won't fit. I have to wash most of my silverware by hand. Your dishes will never fit as efficiently as the dishes chosen for the photos. I have average-sized dishes and I've never been able to fit 4 rows of glasses/cups/mugs with a row of plates/bowls. Racks are thin and flimsy and the tines are inefficiently spaced. I expect them to break relatively quickly. Noisy motor. If you can, make the investment and buy something better. I'm already saving for my next one. I don't expect this one to last long. With this machine you will most likely run it more often with lighter loads because you won't be able to fit your dishes well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Dish Washer. Cleans well, and is very quiet. Be warned if replacing an older dish washer. This is a high efficiency, HE, dish washer not high performance. In other words, it doesn't dry the dishes the same way as older models. We called Whirlpool after a week, and a service technician came out. We thought the heating element was broken. Our old unit would sizzle if water was dropped on it when drying. The service technician said to me: "here, feel this". The heating element gets warm but not sizzling hot like older units. New units are HE, with plastic tubs instead of steel or ceramic. The tub would melt and it would not be energy efficient if designed like older units. Ours didn't dry dishes until the service technician told me about the sterile rinse option. That uses the heating element during rinsing, which raises the temperature and evaporates the water during drying. In other words, the dishes dry themselves during the dry cycle, not the heating element. FYI before calling in a service technician.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, quiet appliance Overall happy with this appliance. It looks nice, feels sturdy, is extremely quiet, and does the job really well--we picked this one because we didn't want to do as much pre-rinsing. After setting it up, we ran it about five times without problems before we had a leak. The part where a metal threaded piece screws onto a plastic metal piece was where it was leaking. The metal piece rotates, so it has a gasket to keep it from leaking, but it leaks through it. We flipped the gasket over and it seems to be okay now. I find it silly how much electrical work there is to do, but I've never bought an appliance before, so maybe that's standard and maybe for a good reason. The instructions aren't very good, so I don't know if I would have been able to do it if I didn't know a little about electrical work. If you don't know much about electrical, best to have somebody who does install it for you. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Have only had the DW for a few weeks, but so far it works well and looks great for the price. Installation was timely and friendly. The machine is very quiet, and has just a few basic settings, which I really like. I have two complaints. 1) the top left rack rail was installed backwords, so I had to take it apart, and figure out how to get it flipped. It took about 30 minutes to fix, and to put the rails back on. This brings me the second issue. 2) the gray plastic end caps that keep the rack from sliding right off and crashing are flimsy, tricky to attach, and fall off easily. One has come off 4 times and one of these days one will break or get stepped on. I am going to request a bunch of replacements from Home Depot to have on hand. You can see the cap in the picture below. The DW is the same as our former Sears elite which was still working fine after 15 years, but we wanted a stainless look. Hope this one does as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty decent machine, quite too for the money. This is a straightforward simple controls/features dishwasher that is quiet than my old broken Frigidaire. I installed it myself. The instruction are very clear for replacement or new installations. Comes with the drain hose but you will need to have the water supply hose and also need to have a certain 3/8 in compression to 3/4 garden hose connector brass fitting. The newer dishwashers now needs this. Unfortunately this brass fitting doesn't come with your dishwasher. You can get this fitting separately at the blue box store or when you buy then dishwasher water supply hose some come with this fitting too. Note that when you lay out the waterline, the discharge line and the electrical line on the floor make sure the discharge water line is a bit to the right of center cause the connection to the dishwasher is on the left side pointing toward the front. Other than that it works well. I moved the utensil rack from the door onto the lower rack.

First impressions from first week of use - it cleans things just fine, is pretty quiet, and has the utensil rack on the door like we prefer it. This Cancel button is easier to use than last machine. Like so many things, they don't make things like they used to. Our last dishwasher lasted 5 years just like the two before them - not Whirpool. Anyway, it does clean, but I noticed a few disappointing things that I didn't before it came into our house. If these are important to you, look elsewhere... it's too late for us: - The top rack is not very deep like our last ones and can just hold a mason jar or cup a bit taller. It holds a lot less cups too. - The bottom rack is not very deep and does not hold cookie sheets over 11.75" wide. We can get one frying pan in, but not 2 like our last dishwashers. - There are only 2 spray arms (one on very bottom and one under top rack) - why isn't there a third one above the top rack to ensure a great clean? Best of luck in your shopping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great dishwasher, but needs additional parts I didn't think to add the parts kit when ordering this from Home Depot online, and realized when I got the dishwasher there was no power cord kit or 3/4" to 3/8" elbow adapter for the hot water line. Ordering these separately from Home Depot takes 7-10 business days. Found same exact items on Amazon for half the price with overnight shipping for $8. In the end I lost a day waiting to install, but saved a few bucks. As for the dishwasher itself, it is very quiet, looks good as far as dishwashers go, and the build quality is very solid for the price. I got the stainless model on sale for $299 which is a steal. My last dishwasher (GE) was double the price and died within 3 years. The silverware tray is actually a nice touch as it lets you load more plates in the bottom tray. The top tray is a little spartan though - the slots are all the same height so super tall glasses won't fit in it. Other than that, it's a solid machine and easy to install (when you have the right parts!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from use drying agent with this machine or else This dishwasher is supposed to be the next generation of a model that is no longer available that was highly rated in Consumer Reports. It looks nice, and has lots of fancy control features and claims to be energy efficient. But after using it for a few weeks I found the following: Without using the drying agent, I have to hand dry more than half of the dishes and utensils. There is one drop of water on the bottom of most dishes and most forks, knives and spoons. This is using the Normal + Heat Dry + High Heat options. It is about the same when you don't select High Heat. However, when I finally got the free sample of the drying agent and added it to the dispenser, the dishwasher works so much better than without it. It lasts a lot longer than you would expect. The other issue is that the prongs on the racks are all uniformly straight up and down. There is no good way to arrange bowls efficiently.
