A:  NONE of the edges of the 24"x48" shelves are finished, at least not what is available at my local HD stores. This makes no sense to me. I had to purchase a separate edge banding item to get the finished result my customers wanted. Poor product detail.

        This white Melamine Wood Shelving did a great job for closet storage. My wife needs a lot of storage space for her craft room. So I mounted various depths of the white melamine shelves in her craft room closet. Shorter depth selves at the top and 24in near the bottom. The only issue is that the large melamine shelves (2ft x 4ft) don't have the finished edges as do the shorter depth shelves. So on the 24in depth shelves I had to finish and paint the front edge of the shelving that faces out.

        5 stars but minor warning.
        Worked great for my pantry. Online specs say 24" wide but label on the melamine board says 23.75" wide. Could make a difference if you're building you're own framing or measuring cuts from one end with the wrong starting number in mind. The top, bottom, and front edges are finished, the sides and back are not. Fine for built-ins with walls on three sides. Or, level exposed end(s) with wood putty and paint with white semi-gloss (a ‘test’ size can at the paint counter is $4).

          Didn’t work for the project I had in mind. This is for cabinet sides and comes predrilled with holes for shelf pegs and unfinished particle board edges. I wanted 23” deep shelf with edge wrap, so returned it. Otherwise it appeared to be functional for it’s designed purpose.

              make a desk
              used this on two little 12 inch three shelf cabinets and made awesome desk. Edge wasn't finished so added piece of trim. Attached to wall with L bracket. The product is very sturdy.

                This board is average in quality, but I was not...
                This board is average in quality, but I was not looking for any great shakes, so it is fine for my purposes. The coating is very thin and I would not recommend it for heavy use areas. The associate was laconically happy to cut it to size for me.
