Answer This Question

A:  You'll need to use a rust & scale remover, such as Lyme Away or even a rust removing gel as used on steel tools. Good luck with the cleanup. It shouldn't affect the toilet function, but tenants will need to know how to clean it as needed.

A:  YES! We have high iron too and we've dealt with it (and the iron rings/stains) for 30 yrs. Fortunately a friend recommended PUMICE stone which, believe it or not, doesn't harm the porcelain in the toilet but it absolutely removes the ring. It does take some elbow grease and I have to do it every couple months but it works. HD carries them too. I don't really like the sticks cause they wear down quickly and leave a plastic stick to deal with. These are all pumice and I can't imagine how I got along without them: https://www.homedepot.com/p/PUMIE-Scouring-Stick-HDW-12T/202529733?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&mtc=Shopping-B-F_D28I-G-D28I-28_4_CLEANING-MULTI-NA-Feed-LIA-NA-NA-BASE_SHP&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D28I-G-D28I-28_4_CLEANING-MULTI-NA-Feed-LIA-NA-NA-BASE_SHP-71700000041074444-58700005459736589-92700049810295128&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk62MxPW87QIVRaiGCh3Iggq2EAQYAyABEgIuW_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Answer This Question

A:  Contact Whitehaus customer service. I had the same problemwithin one year of use - they made me buy a new part - still had the same problem. Finally got in contact with a technician that said it sounded like I needed a new seal. They sent the seal free of charge and now after replacing the seal, I have had no problems.

A:  Adjust the pin the pushes the valve, it's probably to long.

A:  hi yes mine also has a weak flush...i've gotten used to it and have to flush a couple of times. It also makes a trickling sound every so often (which I've also gotten used to)...sometimes I turn the water off at the water line at the back of the toilet and then turn it back on and the trickling stops. My bathroom remodel took SO LONG I'm just glad for it to be completed so I've just tolerated the toilet because it looks great, works fairly well and don't want to call my plumber back to my house. I bought a 2nd of this toilet for my lake house too and it works great. You can try contacting Whitehaus to see if they have any recommendations

Wanted a toilet that did not have the sides that shows the shape of the pipes and that area that always collects dust and hair. This one is perfect... Although installing it was a little more tricky. You have to bolt it to the ground which required is to drill into our tiled floors. Did not come with a template. The toilet bowl is huge compared to a traditional one. The seat and lid are light weight and plastic resin. The no slam feature is nice. The seat is not as wide but it is comfortable. My reason for 4 stars is because the seat makes noise when you sit on it and adjust yourself..also not sure if a replacement seat will be easy or not. Overall it has a clean and modern look.

The product looks great but the installation has been a nightmare. I knew going in that it was an unusual design and would require some expertise. Even comments from others about the difficult installation and poor instructions were negated by the fact that I do quite a bit of remodeling an reviewed the instuctions carefully before I even order the toilet. Once I began installation, the first issue was that the outlet flange provided is supposed to be for a 12" distance from the floor drain centerline to the back wall. According to the Whitehaus specificant sheet for the outlet flange, the distance between the inlet from the toilet to the outlet to the floor was 8" center to center. The part I received was 9 inches center to center. This resulted in the toilet being too close to the back wall and therefore i was unable to install. A call to Whitehaus tech support along with photos resulted in them telling me that the part I have "appears" to be correct. I disagreed but the best they would do was to offer to sell me a 10" flange that is supposed to be 2" shorter. I reluctantly sent them $65.00 for the "shorter" part. After I received the part I put the original part and new part back to back and noticed that the difference was actually 2.5 inches not the 2" that it should have been. This leads me to believe that the original part was probably not correct. I again attempted to install the toilet with the 10" flange but then discovered that the toilet would not sit flush with the floor. The outlet of the toilet bottoms out on the inside the new flange leaving about a 1/4 inch gap betweent the toilet and the floor. I then set the toilet up on a nice flat surface to figure out why. Tried the original 12" inch flange and it had the exact same problem. In both instances the toilet porcelin outlet bottoms out inside the plastic flange and prevents it from sitting securly on the floor. At this point I'm so frustrated with the installation and lack of meaningful support from Whitehaus that I plan to return the toilet to Home Depot. Unfortunately my newly purchased 10" flange from Whitehaus is NOT RETURNABLE.

                            Love it!
When I asked my contractor about this type of toilet, he was less than pleased, but the installation process has been simplified from the last one he installed. Took less than 30 minutes. He admitted it was not bad at all. Yes directions could be better. It is modern & sleek. I love the way it looks with my remodel. The flush is strong in both modes. I'm very satisfied.

Very good product. Glad i bought it.
No one other review complaint confirmed to be true. 1. My contractor installed it as 1-2-3 (had NO problem with manual). 2. Very quiet flush noise. At least better than my previous American Standart toilet, this was also very quiet. 3. Very effective flush, uses LESS water than usual toilet (1 gal vs 1.6). I will buy with confidence next 2 toilets for master bedroom and first floor rest room. Highly recommend this product.

                            Great toilet, horrible instructions
The toilet itself merits 5 stars. It is sleek and modern and has amazing flushing action for a low-flow toilet. Unfortunately, the instructions were written by someone with a very weak command of English and no knowledge of technical writing standards. Many have commented on the difficulty of installation. I do not think the toilet would be difficult to install if Whitehaus hired a competent technical writer and redid the instructions. Both the instructions and the video skip over the installation of the plastic guides on each side of the toilet. The instructions have no illustrated parts list and are printed in a tiny font and at very low resolution. As a result, even with a magnifying glass you cannot read important measurements. At the last step they read, "Install the toilet seat according to the instructions." BUT THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS regarding the installation of the toilet seat. Attached to the toilet seat is a notice about how not to care for the seat. Here is a sample: "The product cannot be put under the sunshine or near the heat source or exposed to the lampblack." Really? I don't think most people have carbon soot in their bathrooms! There is no word on how one should clean the toilet seat. I would like to know if I can use a normal bathroom cleaner on it. It is sad that this fine product does not come with adequate installation instructions. I hope Whitehaus takes action. They would sell a lot more of this model.

Response from Your Whitehaus Collection Product ExpertMay 7, 2014
Thank you for your Whitehaus Purchase. Whitehaus understands that this toilet is not your normal install. That is the reasons for the install video that is on Home Depot's website and the Whitehaus website. Please note that step 2 on the install instructions shows you exactly how to measure for the plastic guides. You need to make sure that you know the model number of your toilet. In your case you purchased the WHMFL3351-EB and your measurements are shown in the guide box at the bottom left as a 3351-EB L= 5 1/8" M=8 5/8". You would then make your measurements off the center line where the drainage outlet (Flange) is located. Simply follow the guide.

As for the toilet seat, obviously a normal bathroom cleaner will work fine. Installing the seat is a breeze. Simply put the brackets into the pre-drilled holes where the seat is supposed to be installed. Then put the seat with the screws over the bracket and tighten the screws into bracket. Pretty simple!Whitehaus

Nice toilet. Looks good. Installation was not easy at all. You have to drill six holes through the floor, if you have tile it's a pain.

                            Water-saving features with designer style
I found the water-efficient features and lower seat profile I was searching for in this toilet. The 2-button flush functions, low and high volume, work very well. Sufficient water flow and force to do the job. The seat is interesting, a sort of rounded square, actually is a more comfortable shape. The seat cover has a soft-close feature that gently closes the seat without a sound. The overall look is very designer-like. I would have given the toilet 5 stars except for the installation difficulty, which is not disclosed until you open the box to do the install. I hired my long-time plumber to install two of these toilets. He quoted me a price before starting the installation. However, once he took the toilet and parts out of the box, he knew something was different. Apparently, Whitehaus toilets require that two holes be drilled into the floor that are different than any other toilet placement. The bolts for the toilet are more streamlined and fit into the side of the base. (see photos) This, of course, resulted in an increased cost for the installation of both toilets and took awhile longer as well. This is the only downside that I would warn buyers on this product. The upside to this feature, as you can see from the photos, is that there are no little traps to try and keep clean; very sleek base line from bowl to floor. Other than this installation issue, I would highly recommend the toilet.
