How far will the pump push water?

We don't have a floor drain in our basement, so I am planning to have someone drill a hole through the basement wall to the outside and drain out via pvc tubing. Will the pump be strong enough to pump up around 15 feet (5 feet vertical)? I am wondering if I would be better off with a separate condenser pump. That way if one breaks I don't have to replace everything.
Asked by: Tink
Never used the pump but before I throw it out I am going to take it apart and try to utilize my $233 pump. Try to look at my one star review review under StilldampandMoldy.

50-Pint Portable Dehumidifier with Pump, ENERGY STAR is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 106.

It runs quieter, does a great job, shuts off when needed, takes more water out of the air then I expected. The drain options are a big plus, so far, I just dump the container as needed. This gets done usually once a day. I would buy another one and recommend it to everyone. I might just buy the bigger model, just for the water storage unit, other then that, it is wonderfl

Found where one of them belonged, not the other. Ran the unit overnight, it did fill the tank. But... pump does not work. Just makes a loud noise like it is trying to prime, then gives an error code after about 20 minutes. Error code indicates either blocked hose (not the case) or blocked pump filter (nope). Returning this item. Unfortunate. I had high hopes for this unit.

The packaging seemed intact so I unpacked the unit and put it into service. I set the controls per the instruction manual, and the unit came on and seemed to operate and then shut down at the selected humidity setting but, in one week's operation, it failed to extract a single drop of water from the air! I finally examined the interior through the cabinet slots and determined that the fan wasn't working; the compressor was the only thing making noise. Rather than face the hassle of returning the unit, I pulled the covers off and, inside the metal box with all the electrical stuff, I found one spade terminal that was unplugged - probably shook loose during shipping. I plugged it back, reassembled, powered it back up, and it seems to be working as it should now. MY unit sucked, YOUR'S should be ok.

I've only been using it for about two weeks in my basement and it works. It is very quiet compared to others I've had in the past. My last one was part of a recall because of being a fire hazard. I bought it because of the pump feature but haven't set that up yet. I wanted to make sure it worked first so I've only been using the bucket. If it continues to work well I'd add the fifth star.

Directions are terrible; tried to figure out the hose attachment in order to use the pump and finally figured it out at day #2 of owning. Has been continuously running (approx. 3-4 weeks) with no leaks or overflows. Hopeful that the reliability is good and lasts as long as an old Kenmore I had before.... we'll see.

The Wynter 50 pt dehumidifier can be used with a gravity drain, bucket collection or with a pump to drain into a laundry tub. It also can be programmed to turn on and off at selected intervals to reduce energy costs. It works well at dehumidifying the basement air in a house that is over 100 years old.

Unfortunately, about seven weeks after I got it, I received an error code. I tried all suggestions to fix, nothing worked and I would have to pay to return the unit to them to get it fixed. Not happy!

It's very quite for a dehumidifier of this size and does what it is supposed to do. The bucket is a little flimsy, and you have to be careful when removing it to empty the water. However I am using the built-in pump.
