Most security cameras come with software for remote monitoring. If you run one brand for an internal camera and another for an external camera you'll possibly have two separate apps. Run an independent camera app that works with multiple brands and allows for features like alerts and PAZ. Apps like Blue Iris fill the bill. Camera's with PoE (Power on Ethernet) use one cable for data and power!!!

Does it work well with a home security camera system?

do I have to buy special bulbs for the whole house??

Roy: Tim2013 provided an excellent answer as far as the different options. I’d like to add to his answer with some additional comments regarding using smart bulbs vs using a smart light switch (or smart plug) to control your existing dumb bulbs. If you want individual (smart) control over one bulb, then it would definitely be best to use a smart bulb instead of a smart switch. Much easier to install (just screw in the bulb vs replacing a wall switch), and much cheaper ($15 for a smart bulb vs $50 for a smart switch). But a smart switch is far better if you want to control an entire set of bulbs as one set. For example, I have 8 recessed can lights in my kitchen all with dumb bulbs wired to one dumb wall switch. Had I used smart bulbs, not only would I have had to buy 8 $15 bulbs, I would also have to configure a smart hub to control 8 different devices (the 8 individual smart bulbs) as one scene. Instead, I just put in 1 smart device: I replaced the one dumb wall switch with one smart wall switch. Saved money and it’s simpler to use too, since all 8 bulbs respond as one unit.

Wink Hub 2 was easy to set up by following the instructions. I connected the Hub to my router using the included Ethernet cable. Was able to connect to my Honeywell account and can now control my three thermostats, located in two separate houses, from the wink app. I have two lights programmed to come on at 20 minutes after sunset, every day. I have verified that I can control everything with my iPhone and iPad, anywhere I have internet access. I am impressed by the power and simplicity of the Wink Hub 2. I lowered my rating one star because one of the two included smart bulbs failed after one hour. Sylvania made the bulbs and Wink’s service rep referred me to Sylvania, (even though it was Wink’s name on the box). I doubt I’ll ever get a replacement.

Hi! I apologize for the confusion. Wink will warranty that non-working light bulb. If you want to reach out to us this evening or any time this week from 11AM to 9 PM EST at 844*946*5277, we can get that swapped out with a working one ASAP. wink
This system is a cost-effective way to start or expand home automation. The wireless (2.4Ghz) or Ethernet wired hub sets up in minutes after you download to your mobile device the Wink app. The hub allows you to control lights and other devices in the wink system. The hub also links to Alexa and Google, so you can set voice controls. The app comes with two base lighting operating modes – home sitter, which turns the lights on and off at random to simulate someone being at home, and moonlight, which turns the lights on at dusk and off at dawn. You can also create custom schedules. The two Sylvania A19 base bulbs simply replace a standard 60-watt bulb. Each bulb can be controlled separately or as a group. Bulbs produce 800 lumens of 2700K light and use 10 watts of energy and have a very long rated life. You can control on/off/ and dimming from your smart hub with the app of Alexa/Google. The bulb also remembers its last setting, so if it was left “on” you can then control on/off at a local switch instead of having to use the app. The system is expandable to add additional bulbs, which are economical as well – at about 2-3 times the cost of a standard LED bulb. Wink can also control thermostats, locks, and a variety of smart devices. Remote controlled devices allow the added safety of turning on light just before you arrive home, or if you hear a noise, or to control lights at your second home, or provide that “lived in”” look that’s far better than a manual timer. The only downside is that all these smart devices makes it easier to be a true couch potato.

Steer Clear of Wink
Worked well through the years unitil now. Try using the app to turn on porch lights and it says “payment required”! Thought that is why I gave you money to buy all the equipment.

Run from Wink
So, after I buy the hub2 for over $100, (I chose wink because of no monthly fees). Now after little over a year they decide to lock out functionality pending a monthly fee subscription. It worked less than half the time. Requires constant internet connection for the non wifi related products (zwave) to work. Plus, I bought a 'wink relay' wall switch that stops working, and customer service doesn't bother to respond to any emails. My second job is working at a retailer that sells the wink devices. From now on I will tell all of my experiences and recommend any other product. I will replace mine soon. I regret every dollar I have spent with this company.

The hub requires a subscription of $5 per month to maintain the use of most home automation features. This is disappointing.

system is a joke
I furst ourchsed this item a few years back with “no subscription” required on the box. It worked ik sometimes with multiple offline events. Not a kot supported for it and more companies are dropping them. Now is see why. And now they want money evey month to keep you joke of a system running. Thanks anyways but i switched. I dont see then staying in business for much longer so do what ithers have done and get a new system. Not worth the few updates they push out to try and resolve issues while causing other issues to come out.

Lights Out, Wink
In order to keep their lights on, Wink is making us customers pay to keep ours on. Over the course of the past 5 years, like many others, I’ve invested hundreds of dollars in Wink smart devices. Now, they’re trying to charge a monthly subscription per linked device to continue receiving service. This is a classic case of corporate greed and failure. I will not be investing another penny into this failing company. It’s time to say, lights out to Wink and their shady business practices.

Server service is not that great and as of May 13, 2020 they will be charging a monthly fee to use their hub service!!!
Server service is not that great and as of May 13, 2020 they will be charging a monthly fee to use their hub service. If you do not pay the monthly fee you will no longer receive service with their automated smart system therefore you will have a very expensive paperweight that will do absolutely nothing to operate your smart devices unless you pay a monthly fee. I will not recommend any other type of smart hubs as it depends on what type of smart devices you will be connecting to the smart hub as not all devices will work with all smart hubs equally. https://blog.wink.com/wink-blog/2020/5/6/introducing-wink-subscription

This unit installed quite easily, and connected to my WiFi on the first try. This unit continuously goes offline (at least once or twice a month and has to be rebooted, even though i haven't lost power or my internet connection, i have received several updates, but these updates haven't help it at all.
