Will this utility shear cut Formica? Or, is that material too thick or ridged to cut by hand?

Asked by Waldo December 14, 2020

Answers

It will cut Formica but because they're shears it won't be a clean cut and you risk cracking the Formica.

Can i cut plastic light panels with these

Asked by Clu July 12, 2020

These are very sharp, tough shears. If the plastic is reasonably flexible, it can cut it. If it brittle, like some light panels, the plastic may crack. Either way, these shears can cut it.

difference between these(W10TM) and the single ring shop sears(W11TM)?

Asked by Ivan May 17, 2020

Answer

The difference is only the handle-design and that single-ring has a spring opening, plus a lock. I have BOTH models. This one works nicely in my shop where I usually work without gloves. The other pair ( single-ring style) lives in my mobile tool-kit. I find those are easier to use with work-gloves on. That's why I got both models. I have used them both for several years now and they're still sharp and smooth-working as new. Although I have numerous scissors for different purposes, these are always my first-choice "go-to" scissors.

They are a bit small but cut easily so I think someone with arthritis should be able to use them in limited fashion

The W10TM is sharper and stronger, designed to cut tougher materials. It is correspondingly more expensive than the W10T.

I own all the major utility knives and this is my favorite. The build is great, it has in-handle blade storage, has a good heft, and operates smoothly when changing blades and opening. But, on mine the paint is scraping off as shown in the picture. I've seen other reviews that say the same thing. Maybe it was a bad batch. I still really like this knife.

This is the second pair of these scissors. I used the first for about four years. Then gave them to my wife who really needed a good pair for the kitchen and told her to be very careful with them. Then I bought a new pair for my shop. The scissors are great for jobs big and small. They must have a very high amount of carbon added to the steel because the four year old pair are as sharp as the day I bought them! And the old pair have had some tough cutting jobs like very heavy leather, plastics and metals. No rust ever!

These are a great pair of shears. They feel good on the hands and are even strong enough to cut a penny like some other, much more expensive ones do.

I needed shears for my first aid kit. The cheap previous pair broke at the handle on the first use. I found these at Home Depot and thought they looked sturdy enough to cut off clothing, web harnesses, seatbelts, and light metal. I like the locking feature to hold them closed in the bag. These are light enough that they don't add a lot of weight to the kit and feel comfortable in my hand. They easily cut through denim when I tested them and cut through denim that I doubled over without a problem. These should easily cut through a leather jacket if needed. The tip is a bit pointed and I rounded that off for my needs. For cutting large bandages and bandage tape these easily meet my needs.

Functional But Clumsy Folding Knife
I had high hopes for this knife after using similar models from other brands. What really disappointed me was the action for folding and unfolding the knife. The button to unlock the blade is extremely stiff and takes a lot of pressure to move. Then the blade swings very quickly without even the slightest friction. So it ends up being really awkward in use. I've attached a video to show what I mean. Beyond the action, everything else about the knife is pretty good. I like the storage for the extra blades in the handle. It cuts well and the grip is comfortable.

It is a Quick change.
I really like this Quick Change Folding Utility Knife. I have had several other utility knives over the years and this one is at the top of the list. I like the feel as you pull it across boxes, drywall, or any other product your trying to cut. It comes with 11 razor blades and that's a nice bonus as most others come with 1 or 2. It also includes a belt/pocket clip that makes it convienant to keep it close when needed. Changing the blade is well.... Quick. Just push the spring loaded button and the blade come loose, then insert another and off you go. The only issue was getting the spring loaded button depressed the first few 10 or more times. But once you get the hang of it and it loosens up, you should have no problems. I really like this knife.

Quick Change
The Quick change folding utility knife, works very good. Very comfortable in the hand, quick change with the blades. Comes with 8 blades in storage container. Has clip for belt, pocket or for hanging. Will use all brands of utility knife blades. Only cons is the release for opening is a little clumsy or it sticks, Be very careful opening out the knife, it is close to your fingers. Happy Cutting and watch out for your Fingers!

Well made tool
The main things I look for in a utility knife are comfort and ease of use. I really like the feel of this grip in my hand. It is easy to apply pressure when scoring drywall or whatever else needs to be cut. It also has some nice features like storage of two blades inside the handle and doesn't require a tool to replace the blades. (See picture of spare blade location.) I have retractable blade utility knives but after a while they get full of dust or cuttings and won't retract properly until you stop, take them apart and clean them out. Also, I have used folding utility knifes that used a spring to snap the blade into the handle. I cringed every time that blade flew precariously close to my fingers. This knife does not have a spring-loaded retractor which feels a whole lot safer to use.
