Questions & Answers

Can these be used to cut tin roofing sections?

Asked by TR March 27, 2021
1
Answer

Yes they can, provided the material doesn't exceed 22 gauge. Keep in mind that these are designed for straight cuts and any serious curves may require a different blade shape.

Will these cut aluminum floor transition strips?

Asked by Rebecca February 7, 2021
1
Answer

Yes. It might take a strong hand depending on the type of transition strip. Make sure you move the strip all the way up in the jaws to get the most leverage. Also, check the strip. Some have a thick center support strip that will be really hard to cut through. If you have that, I recommend a hacksaw.

Technically, yes, but its going to be pretty jagged and not very pretty. Prob recommend a sawzal if you have one.

Will these cut through vinyl lattice?

Asked by NCmountaingirl June 24, 2020
1
Answer

You didn't post a picture of the lattice you want to cut through so the best answer is, if you hands are strong enough. If it is the thinner lattice that you slide into a post, then most likely. If it is a free standing lattice design, it could be very thick and you would be better off with a saw.

can i cut thin tile with this? i saw a video of a man cutting a circle on a tile with a scisor similar to this one. T

No. I don't think so. First of all these scissors are designed to cut thin metal. These do open big enough to grab anything over 1/4". Also tiles edges might chip off.

Can these be used to cut 1/8" x 1" aluminum Moulding?

Asked by BlackCherokee May 20, 2020
1
Answer

Hey BlackCherokee, 1/8" aluminum would be roughly 11 gauge. These are meant for 22 gauge and thinner. For metal that thick you need something with more than manual power, a saw would be better suited. Thanks!

Can this cut metal-clad cable (the metal shield)?

It can cut coax cable, but I have not tried to use it on metal clad cable. It can cut through sheet metal, if that helps.

Straight will work fine. But if you’re concerned about it being perfect I’d recommend using a dremel or multi-tool or even a hack saw. Also, if it’s something like ducting that you’re cutting then that stuff is easy to manipulate back in shape even if you mess it up.

Why does it happen you changed the length of the snips? Question is for crescent

Answers

The longer the handle, the better leverage you will have. Size difference is mostly from the manufacturer and a cost driven choice.

cutting blade snapped after the second cut
I have an old pair of WISS snips that I’ve had for years and they worked great, they were getting a little doll so I decided to buy a new pair unfortunately the new ones are garbage. I was cutting some 20 gauge galvanized sheet metal and after making two cuts the cutting blade snapped broke right off.

I own all the major utility knives and this is my favorite. The build is great, it has in-handle blade storage, has a good heft, and operates smoothly when changing blades and opening. But, on mine the paint is scraping off as shown in the picture. I've seen other reviews that say the same thing. Maybe it was a bad batch. I still really like this knife.

Unfortunately, it did not do the job I bought it to do. But, it was useful on another project and easy to use. Good for rewiring, but not for thicker wire that I wanted to cut.

I purchased this product to cut a kitchen backsplash I purchased that was made of super thin stone. The snips worked great. They cut the stone easily, with precision and with a clean cut on the edges of the stone. Very impressed!
