The blades are the same size, the wire stripping notches are the same and the basic functions are typical. The handles are larger than my traditional snips, however, which I like a lot. Instead of gripping the outside of them, I can actually get my fingers into the handles and open the snips properly. They also open and close smoothly. The large groove in the blade grips CAT-6 cable well and makes cuts easy. I also use the same cutting groove for stripping the insulation off the outside of the cable. The blades are sharp, however. One quick turn with the cable cutter around the jacket is enough to score it so it can be twisted / flexed off. Two turns cut through the outside jacket and the insulation around the twisted pairs inside. The "grip zones" on the handles are only marginally helpful. I wasn't able to grip much, and I just didn't really see the point. Other than that one rather useless feature, these are great snips. Better than my old snips.

I now consider these scissors an essential tool for network wiring.

This 6 ⅜” long scissor with 1½” cutting length on the blades are small with big handle loops so that they are very easy to use. This scissor is especially designed for low voltage applications such as CAT5, coaxial cable, data cables, and security system wiring. The scissor blade portion is used to completely cut through small wire. The larger notch is used to cut a bundle wire cable like CAT5 and coaxial cable. The two smaller notches are used to hold a 19 or 23 gauge wire in a small notch then slide the wire down to strip the small wire. The scissor blade area has one side serrated that helps hold a wire in place while you cut it. There is also serration on the outside of the blades to deburr conduit and electrical box knockouts. Another feature is a curved metal section on the inside of each handle to hold and twist off a plastic wire connector. The two wire stripper notches are not marked 19 and 23. This scissor is very well designed for its purpose and it has a rugged steel construction with a titanium coating. The blades are pretty sharp and should last without becoming nicked.

This is a tool that once used is handier than perhaps you thought it might be. The wire strippers are great when you happen to be working with the right gauge wire to get the use from them. And the material and build of the scissors make them perfect for cutting the same wire they are stripping. For my application they are just the thing. I use that size wire a lot. The large handles and small blades give you plenty of torque on the cut keeping the effort minimal. When building something like a wiring harness this can help on the hand fatigue especailly if you are starting to experience a little arthritis in the hands like I am. You take all the help you can get. The grippers are a nice feature but I personally don't use that a lot since I have gone to using wago lever nuts for a number of things now. (A lot of my wiring is in a lab type environment or on home hobby projects)

These convenient small scissors are equal in quality to my expensive German electrician’s scissors, but have more features and are a better value. We have four pairs of Wiss scissors, and all of them have provided superbly easy cutting. The main pair I use most are the shears, which have seen frequent use in my shop over two years. They remain sharp, are very smooth and comfortable to use. That’s why I jumped at the chance to get these, even though I already have another pricey pair of Electrician’s scissors. The Integral wire strippers are sized for 19 and 23 AWG wire, but they work well on both smaller and slightly larger wire I sometimes must use. Between the handles are two steel areas Wiss calls the “grip zone.” These hard steel plates have ridges that grip wire-nuts for fast-easy twisting ON or OFF. The extra leverage provided makes that job much more comfortable, especially when you have to install or remove many wire nuts. The grip zone works on bottle caps too! ;-) The “cable cutter” hole or “groove” ( as they call it ) provides tenacious grip on coated wire. They are VERY sharp, but Wiss wisely left the microscopic serrations from grinding. In conjunction with the “groove” those small serrations grab coax, phone cable and data wire instantly. Wire can’t escape! On the outside edges of both blades are coarse serrations that make quick work of reaming knock-out holes or pipe ends. Mechanical advantage from the wide handles makes those jobs easy. Like all the Wiss scissor tools I have, these cut beautifully. These are especially tough because of their thick-short blades which give great mechanical advantage. They cut through tough blister-wrap packaging like butter, make clean cuts through thick coax, and snip small wires as easily as hair. A crucial feature I love about this design ( and other Wiss scissors) is the adjustable nut at the pivot point. That allows you to keep the blades close to each other and tight to the work. That also means you can disassemble these for sharpening. Although I haven’t had to sharpen them yet, that’s a great feature for any pair of scissors. It means you can keep your tools for many years instead of throwing them away when dull. That’s good business! It’s good for your wallet and the environment! If you want to see more about Wiss scissors, I will provide a video link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4GTRoWY3DA Even better… check them in person at any Home Depot. The instant you feel them in your hand, you can sense the quality. The sound tells you these shear precisely. The handles are soft and don’t pinch. It’s difficult to find any fault with tools this good. The only suggestion I could offer is, I wish Wiss made a carrying-case or belt-pouch for these. They are so versatile and useful, I like to keep them nearby at all times! And you don’t need to be an electrician to justify getting a pair, especially considering the bargain price. I like these better than the best American brand and those expensive Teutonic tools. Highly recommended!
