Will this prolong the life of wood that has already been pressure treated and will be buried underground?
Asked by: Larry
Hi Larry, thank you for reaching out! Pressure treated wood has different grades, and many boards are not rated for ground contact or below grade use. Fortunately, our WoodLife CopperCoat may be used to treat either untreated or pressure treated wood, allowing the wood to be used underground. To ensure proper protection, we recommend following the treatment instructions found on the product label. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

How long do you have to dip fence posts that will be in the ground? How much product will be absorbed / cubic foot?
Asked by: Seabee
All you have to do is dip it put it in leave it 10-20 seconds take it out. This stuff is runny, kinda like gas so it will go a right good ways, if all your doing is dipping it. It will tell you not to use a sprayer with this product, but I will usually dip anything that is going to be below ground and then come back and put it in a 2 gallon sprayer and spray the rest of my wood with it. If you do use a sprayer get you some GOOD googles and dust mask. This is some great stuff I put it on every thing. The wood will turn green and have a odor to it, it will take about 3 weeks before the odor leaves, the green tent will last about a year depending on how much sun gets on it. I like a natural look to wood, I don't like paint so I wood recommend dipping post and spraying the rest of the fence, but keep in mind if you use a sprayer you are going to wast a lot, also if it gets on grass it will kill it. As we all know our government wants to tell us all what is best for us therefor when you buy treated lumber it doesn't have arsenic in it anymore to help keep bugs out of it and those bumble bees. This stuff does a great job at keeping bug out of your wood work as well that is why I love to spray everything with it.

Can this product be used on untreated pine lumber for pool deck

Asked by: Freebird
The product label says "below ground." CopperCoat is a surface coating and not intended to replace pressure treated wood. You need to use pressure-treated pine for an above ground deck project. Besides, CopperCoat would rub off on your hands and shoes as a sticky green toxic residue that has a faint acrid metallic odor. Why in the world would you want this on your pool deck??

I'm using on treated wooden fence posts (8-ft. x 6-in.) that will be 2.5 ft. in the ground, with concrete around them too. Only time will tell if this stuff will make them last longer, although I've read it should. I plan to coat the portion that'll be in the ground and on top (where water can sit).

Although my new deck was built using treated lumber I applied this product as an added layer of protection. I have used a similar product in the past (18yrs) ago and the results were excellant. No signs of bugs or rot as yet. Highly recommend.

Had acceptable coverage. Price was exceptional, and no shipping! Arrived early. Won't fix rotting wood (don't expect it to!}. But can tell the difference in reduced wicking. And termites hate it! Thanks for being there.
