The Woodford IOWA model Y34 (Orange Head) 3/4 in. NPT variable-flow "America's Original" yard hydrant is immediate-flowing, even in sub-zero conditions. What's the best way to attach this to a 1" supply line? What fittings will I need?
I don't have any specifics on what fitting to use, other than it would need to fit a 3/4" female pipe thread. I can suggest that you take a look at the Y1 yard hydrant. This is a 1" inlet with the same exact features of the Y34.

I don't remember the exact overall length, but I believe it is very close to 7ft. Plus or minus an inch or so. We buried 42", and have a under 4 ft above.
can i use a float in a stock water tank with a Woodford faucet?
We do see Woodford hydrants used in these types of applications pretty commonly. The parts may wear out sooner than normal and need to be replaced and this can be done from above ground. my faucet busted where it screws on to the pipe. can i just replace the faucet leaving the parts inside pipe?? my faucet is a redline

Depends on why it busted ? I had one where it pulled very hard due to age and bent pipe. You can get just the replacement parts. Might be best to ask a plumber and if it’s really old replace it.
Will a 1/2” inlet water line work or must you use a 3/4” water line?
A 1/2 in. line can be run to the hydrant yet will need to get a bushing to go from the 1/2 in. line to the 3/4 in. connection. Woodford can be contacted at 1-800-308-0864 if there are any other questions.
Can I buy just the orange handle?
I doubt it. It's touted as "freezeless" because the water shutoff mechanism is located at the bottom of the pipe, presumably below the freezing level of the ground in your area. Since the water shutoff mechanism is located at the bottom of the pipe, removing the pipe deprives the upper handle of a function. Of course, that's not a problem if all you want is for the handle to serve as lawn art or a doorstop.
Is this suitable for potable water
THe Y34 is meant for "non-potable" solutions. Woodford sells Models S3, S4H, Thermalines and H34s that comply with the 1/4/14 Safe Drinking Water Act.
