I used this product to match the existing crown moulding in my 20+ year old home (was not expecting to find the match so easily!). I recommend the pre-cut corners if you are installing yourself, but we had a professional install the trim because I wanted a seamless look (we have some DIY crown moulding upstairs and I do not recommend tackling this project on yourself as it is very hard to hide the seam where two pieces meet).
I do recommend buying some basecap and adding that to beef up this standard molding. You can buy standard basecap for under $1/foot at your local Home Depot. Just install that basecap 2-3" underneath this crown moulding and then paint it all one color (including the wall in between). We used Behr Premium Plus Ultra Silky White (semi-gloss) and it came out great. Huge upgrade from just the 3" crown that the house came with!
