About This Product
Wooster Pelican Hand-Held Pail is designed to work with both a brush and roller (4-1/2 in. or smaller) at the same time. The Pelican makes it easy to paint all the areas that require the detail of a brush and when you switch to a roller, simply place the brush against the inside back of the pail and the enclosed magnet will hold it in place. Small rollers utilize the built-in roller grid and a notch under the lip of the pail keeps the roller frame handle in place when not in use. Questions & Answers
Does this version of the Pelican have a stronger magnet than the older beige colored one? I have the older one and the magnet won't hold the 2 inch brush as the brush slides down and from side to side.
The magnet was changed quite awhile ago. The Pelican works well with our Shortcut brushes.

I want to revise my previous review. I was unaware that there was a magnet to hold my paint brush while I was painting. Now that I discovered it, I find that is product is great.
Yes it will accommodate a 5 1/2 in. Brush.
The Pelican Pail is designed to work with applicators 4 1/2" wide or less. You would have better success using the next size larger, which is the Wooster Speed Bucket (#203150889). The Speed Bucket has a 1/2 gallon capacity and is made of the same polypropylene material as the Pelican for easy clean out. The Speed Bucket has the magnet and roll-off area, just like the Pelican, but uses a metal handle/bail instead.
The Wooster 1-quart Pelican hand-held pail is just over 6” wide at top and tapers to just over 5” wide at the bottom of its widest side. The magnetic side of the pail is about 4”. So you should be able to dip and wipe a brush up to 6” max. The magnetic side of the pail will not accept a brush much over 3-1/2”.
According to the directions on the outside of the Pelican, it can accommodate a 5 3/4 inch roller. Wooster does not make a 5 3/4 inch paint roller. I have two in my hand that measure 5 inches. I am unable to locate a 5 inch roller. Can anyone tell me where I may buy some? I realize I can use a 4 inch but I want a 5 inch. Why would they produce a pelican that can accommodate a 5 3/4 roller and not supply a 5 inch roller. Thanks,
I have cut my own from larger rollers before. You just need a small handle. And a sharp knife. (Just be careful, they can be tricky to cut)
it just shows what i can take up to.. im not sure that they make a 5 inch roller but also do not forget to add the extra from the side of the roller frame as well
The Pelican has a roll-off area that measures 5½" inches so it easily accommodates the 4½" roller covers and frame that are offered in the Wooster Pro miniature line and the Wooster Jumbo-Koter line of roller covers, or larger brush sizes. Giving the 5½" roll-off area helps give that extra space for ease of movement when rolling-off paint. We are unaware of any company manufacturing 5" roller covers.
[WOOSTER RR323 Mini Roller Frame] can accommodate a 5" roll (as it os between the 4" and 6" supported by this roller), however good luck finding that size roll anywhere, as most construction lumber is sold in even number widths. Their 5 3/4 inch likely refers to the overall size of the roll + roller frame. Even though the roll may be 4 inch, the roller itself including the bar for the frame can be up to 5 3/4 inch. That or it's a what-if suggestion...
That's is correct as I used a 3/4 inch roller to paint my exterior door.
