Questions & Answers

How do I get mirror like glossy look on cabinets?

I got glidden high gloss paint and painted cabinets with a foam roller. And it had tiny bubble like texture from the roller I think. I painted again with a brush, and it is shinier but has brush mark. Is there a way to achieve smooth and glossy look? The cabinet was originally very glossy and smooth like mirror. Thanks for your advice in advance.
Asked by: Serena
Hi, Serena! Your best bet is to use a sprayer. Rollers and brushes will not give you the finish you desire even if you use the highest quality brush available. To avoid the bubbles or brush marks, a sprayer works best. This may not be something you have available and do not wish to invest in. You may consider rental or hiring a Pro. If spaying, you will or should remove the doors and make proper preparation which will start will sanding down the other paint you have applied. Having a well prepared and clean surface is that key to all good paint projects.

Every once in awhile a product comes along that deserves more than the maximum rating.  This is one such product--I've owned a lot of paint brushes over the years and there are very few I have liked as much as this one.  Like other reviewers I am hard pressed to find a fault with this product.  For the price, especially compared to more expensive brands, it outperforms them all at a fraction of the cost. This has become my go to brush.  I own several and use them frequently.  It cleans up nicely with no loss to the bristles, in fact I've painted ten rooms with this brush in the last few months as well as all sorts of trim and touch-up jobs.  It is durable, ergonomic, and effective.   This brush's small size allows it to access tight spaces.  It's well suited for use in both narrow dimensions and larger areas.  The flexible handle is well-designed and a great feature that allows for the brush to be used for extensive periods.  The bristles hold an adequate amount of paint and apply it quite well in precision lines.  I often paint intersections between walls and ceilings/floor molding without painters tape because this is so accurate. In addition to paint, I have used this product to apply glycerin and mineral oil to snakeskin that I was curing as well as floor epoxy to my basement and while in these cases the brushes could not be cleaned, they performed well during application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In Love- Can't get enough I love this brush!! This is by far my favorite brush to cut in with. I get perfect straight lines everytime. The rubber handle is easy to hold and gives a nice swoosh at the end of your stroke when you backbrush. It is also a breeze to clean- it cleans much better than my perdy brush which was triple the price! My husband and father in law were so impressed with the concept and performance of the brush they went out and bought two more. It is a little harder to cut in a textured ceiling with the short handle but other than that I don't think I will be going back to the expensive brushes- this is my holygrail sash brush!

I loved the first one and used it on small furniture pieces. Used the second one on a coffee table and it worked well at first but then began to drag after a short time of use. I clean my brushes very well and am very careful with them.I even use a paint comb to make sure there is no residue left on the brush. This 3rd one is awful. I am painting a dresser with larger areas and paint is leaving very small "chunks" in the finish. I tried my wooster foam brush and it is leaving a much smoother finish but it doeasn't load enough paint for a complete swipe across the surface. frustrated! Liked one brush..not brush 2 or 3.

It fits my hand so well and because the handle is so short and rubberry and the Brussels are angled, it is easy to get in deep corners of old cabinets and furniture that I paint. I have noticed a couple of brissels that have fallen out but I have removed them before the paint dried. It is a nice brush for either latex indoor paint or craft paint. Low on brush marks! I have only had it for a couple weeks. I am so glad the lady at the Home Depot paint counter recommended it! I have already purchased two more of these brushes for future projects!

I have bought these a few times over the years mainly because the price point is good for the quality of the bristles. If you get lower quality brushes, they don't perform well. If you get higher quality brushes, they are very, very expensive. If i get one of these, I usually try to take care of it throughout my project and then toss it at the end. The things I don't like about it are: The handle is a flexible rubber. The bending, to me, makes for less control when cutting a sharp line. Also, the short handle is a little too short for me. Another inch would work well, but the way they are, the end wants to slip into my palm. My hands are not big (I usually wear medium work gloves), but this may work better for someone with very small hands.

I rarely note much difference other then when I buy a brush of lesser quality all due to trying to save some money. I became aware of the difference shortly into my paint project - the application of paint to surface & also the clean up. This brush held its form, it remained pliable, almost like new. It definitely made me think about future purchases on a brush.

This is a great little brush. Paint application is smooth and consistent. The short handle is great for those of us who like to hold the brush close for better control. The flexible nature of the handle just adds to the ease and control. I bough two. Someone (not the husband) left paint in one of them so I now have one. I'll be getting another as we have a while to go before the new house is complete.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought this to paint in "tight" areas between duct work.... Bought this to paint in "tight" areas between duct work. To put it mildly, it is the worst brush I've ever used and Wooster is a great brand name. First - the rubber handle is too flexible and hard to grip in palm of hand. AND, because I was painting at an angle overhead, the paint ran down the brush and rubber handle all over my fingers/hand. Overall, it needs to go back to the design board for rethinking! Maybe a wooden handle instead of a too flexible rubber one?
