Q:Is this a KNIT SYNTHETIC roller cover? I read those are best for painting a smooth surface w/flat paint. I'm painting a kitchen ceiling and this will be my 3rd coat. The first two I used a 3/8" roller cover, which left a visible texture and some streaks.

Answer This Question
A: This is a woven roller cover. You have mentioned a knit, which we do offer; however, a knit is more of a production roller cover. It is known to pick up and release the most paint thus covering more area quickly. While the woven does also offer good pick up and release, it's real claim to fame is providing the smoothest finish. This 1/4" Wooster Pro Woven roller cover would be a good choice for a smooth surface and would provide a smooth finish. We would suggest this over the knit if looking for the smoothest finish. Q:Can this roller be used to apply oil stain on new Douglas fir deck

Answer This Question
A: Roller materials will hold up to solvent based products. I would suggest prestaining all materials on all surfaces prior to deck construction to get the best performance from Doug fir. Recoat exposed surfaces after building. If your stain is pigmented you might want to brush it out after applying with the roller for more even tone.

A: Yes, the Wooster Pro Woven roller cover can be used to apply oil stain on a deck. Wooster Customer Service is also always available to answer any questions or concerns at 800-392-7246.

Q:Best roller cover for polyurethane
by|May 31, 2022

Answer This Question
A: We always recommend checking your coating for their recommended applicator. That being said, the Wooster Pro Woven is a lint-free cover and would be a good choice for applying polyurethane. Some painter's prefer to use a wool cover due to their natural shed-resistance. You might also want to consider the 9" x 3/8" High-Density Wool roller cover (see product #304932319). Wooster Customer Service is always available for any assistance needed at 800-392-7246.

Q:What size roller is best to use on a tongue and groove bedroom ceiling?
by|May 16, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: To properly get into the grooves of the ceiling, you will want a larger nap roller cover. We would suggest a 3/4" to 1 1/4" roller cover based on the depth of the groove. The deeper the groove, the larger the nap should be on your roller cover used. If you would like the smoothest possible finish, we would recommend a woven roller cover (see product # 304243536). This item is available online, but not in stores. If the highest production is the the most important, you might consider a knit option like the Wooster Pro Surpass 3/4" (see product #300851694). The Surpass will provide a excellent coverage and production. We also always welcome calls to Wooster Customer Service at 800-392-7246. We would be happy to help with choose the perfect applicator for your project.

Best roller Covers
I've done a good amount of painting over the years and have tried just about every brand of roller covers. After giving the Wooster Pro roller covers a try I must say I found the perfect one. The roller covers hold the paint great and leave a perfect texture unlike cheap roller covers. Another massive plus is they don't shed at all. If you've used a shedding roller cover you can loose you mind picking out the fibers out of the wall. Do it right the first time with Wooster roller covers.

Hate to spend more money, but they do what I need and want
Virtually no shedding and good paint coverage without the dripping. Worth the extra money to me. Buying better rollers and paint saves more time than it costs in the end.

Besides that it’s a great roller holes paint for a while and has a smooth finish.... as long as you paint the entire wall at once with one roller and then the second coat with the second roller. I remodel homes as well as currently remodeling mine.

Wooster paint hardware is my preferred brand.
Recently and over the last 2 years I have performed may projects at my home and for others (friends and family mostly) when painting I have used many different paint hardware products and Wooster has become my favorite brand and 1st choice. I have not used the 4” roller yet and I wanted to see how it performed. The roller cover was made very well, I do prefer the plastic roller casement the mat is affixed too, as it slides on/off The roller a liot easier Than the cheaper cardboard tubes. I like how it fits, the quality of the product is very good.
I would highly recommend it. It is affordable and does the job.

If you like to dip your roller in the paint every 10 inches on your wall this is the roller cover for you. To be honest, I'd rather have a roller that shed as long as it held some paint. I have been painting for 35 years and this is by far the worst roller cover I've ever used. So. I'll repeat. If you want extra work, buy this crap

We hate to hear you weren't happy with the Wooster Pro Woven roller cover. This cover will provide a smooth fine finish. If looking for the highest production possible, we might suggest one of our high production knit covers like the Wooster Super/Fab or Wooster Pro Surpass. These covers will both pick up and release a large volume of paint and cover a large area. While they will provide a smooth finish, it is not as fine as the finish provided by the Wooster Pro Woven. Please feel free to contact Wooster Customer Service at 800-392-7246. We would be happy to help you choose the perfect applicator for your project and painting preferences.

To be honest, I was expecting a 4 inch mini roller cover but it was actually a standard 4 inch roller cover. I hadn’t used one of these for probably 30 years but decided to use this roller cover instead of a mini roller to paint three six panel interior doors to try it out. The roller cover tested was the Wooster Pro 4 inch with ½ inch nap. (Yes I know that you would normally use a ¼ or 3/8 inch nap for a lightly wood textured door.) The roller cover was somewhat difficult to load with a latex primer from a paint tray. The roller cover tended to not roll easily but slid more on a metal paint tray (probably because of the 1/2 inch nap). However, the Wooster Pro 4 inch roller cover did hold paint well and released it well on the surface. One of my favorite features of the Wooster Pro 4 inch roller cover material was that it did not leave any fuzz on the paint surface. It also did not splatter any little paint droplets like some roller covers do, especially those with the thicker nap. This Wooster Pro 4 inch roller cover did leave some bumps on the painted surface that looked like unpopped air bubbles (see photo). On the first door I used a brush to initially paint around the raised panels but decided to use the roller for the other two doors. Surprisingly due to the size and amount of paint that the Wooster Pro 4 inch roller cover held it worked very well on the raised panel area of the door. I slid the roller is the recessed area first to deposit paint and then rolled it out. I also used this roller cover to prime a small area ( 2ft x 3 ft) of patched drywall in preparation for painting. It worked very well for that application leaving no cover material in the surface and no splatter. It produced a very uniform finish. I would definitely recommend this Wooster Pro 4 inch roller cover if you have a need for a 4 inch standard roller cover. I would definitely try the 9 inch version next time I paint a room.

Very pleased with this high quality roller. Material is soft & holds quite a bit of paint but does not leave fuzz or strings. Plushness allows one to easily fill in small groves. I painted some older paneling in our spare room . I went vertical for my first swipe, then horizontally once or twice to fill in the small groves and finished with a vertical swipe. Took longer to write the do :) Making a nice straight edge was easy to doe. Sturdy inside plastic cylinder. Paint washed out easily when finished. Only problem I had was my old roller had a slightly smaller insert than what should have been used.
