Bought it then went to fill it up and they told me it was out of date the propane valve or something
They are legal here in PA. They do have an overflow valve which alerts the service man when the tank is full. The smaller BBQ type tanks have OPD valve connections but are filled with the same male fitting as the POL valves.
Yes it is suitable for for anything that you need to use it for. Please keep it a little dstance away from the building and from the generator.. Always be safe.
You dont have to ever purge a propane tank because Propane is a liquid that is purged while being filled. the thumb screw is to let pressure out while propane goes in.

Yes, I have two of them connected in tandem via a dual regulator to my 16Kw stand by generator. When one goes empty just flip the cross-over valve to switch to the 2nd tank.
