Questions & Answers

Does the tank come purged?

Can i see a pic with this tank next 2 a standard 20 lb tank
Asked by: BigPete
No you need to take it to someone who both fills and will purge the tank on its first fill. It does NOT come pre-purged.

Is this tank narrower then a 5 gallon tank?

I have limited space on my trailer tongue.
Asked by: Cc211
The tank I got is narrower than a 5 gal (20 lb) tank. You can get an 11 lb (2.6 gal) tank that is as wide as a 5 gal, but half as tall. I needed a narrow foot print.

Is the Tank Marked for securing in the laying down position?

I want to install it tank horizontally instead of upright vertically and want to know if it comes with instructions for that position? I noticed the picture of one of the other questions for this tank..the picture that was entered into a drawing..shows the tank laying down mounted on a golf cart...but if it was rotated incorrectly, the inner supply tube would get liquid instead of gas vapor wouldn't it? Thanks...and I love you
Asked by: Laray
All propane bottles must be positioned in the upright position when used. Having them on their side or upside down will allow liquid propane to be released. There may be special equipment that could be used to put the tank on its side, but I would check with your local gas company before attempting to use a propane bottle in any position except in the upright position.

It is what it is, a propane tank, but the one thing I would suggest to both Worthington and to potential customers is most propane tanks now have been "Pre-Purged" this tank is NOT. I had to go to two propane fillers to find someone who would purge it for its first fill which was a lot of wasted time. After that it does what it is supposed to do well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sought after size in Ptown!!! We LOVE our Worthington 11 lb. propane tank!!! We are vacationing in Provincetown, MA, and it so manageable (even filled it weighs much less than the bigger 20 lb. tank). Pauline at Days Propane, told us the size of our tank is sought after, so we picked it up as soon as it was filled...we didn't want to temp (or torture LOL) anyone with our adorable 11 pound tank, which is WORTH (pun intended) the additional cost. Thanks Home Depot and Worthington!!! We love our 11 lb. propane tank!!! Rosemary & Ken Burr

I am planning on using the bottle on my boat so a good coat of paint is a MUST. Sprayed the bottom 1/3 of the bottle with a spray zinc paint, after ruffing up the surface with a scotch pad.

I'll use it to fuel a Mr.Heater and other propane devices I use for camping in the fall. This should be plenty big for weekend camping and weighs about 1/3 less than a typical 20 lb. tank... Thanks!

I got this because my H.O.A. put an arbitrary restriction on the size of tanks for grills. If you don't have a stupid restriction, just get a normal sized tank at any store.
