Whet the saw is used at full extension it is difficult to manage.......I believe most pole saws will be. You can place the chain on a branch and not have to hold it. When the branch is cut you will then need to be in control of the saw. Remember the pole is almost 10 feet long....this has a multiplier effect on weight.

yes, start your cut with very light pressure, ,after it starts cutting, go at it as you normally would. you should not have any trouble. mine works great.
Depending upon length of time of purchase, if under warranty, it wil be replaced by manufacturer. Ut is not worth the cost to sharpen chain unless you can find someone that does it on the side. as a hobby or for a lower fee.
