I see no reason it could not be installed on the inside or the outside. Your preference. Should be just as effective.

What is the minimum size.

40 3/4" is as far as I could get the one I put in down to, but it was plenty. It only takes a small amount of torque to straighten out the door.

Yes. You might have to use a different type of screw (Perhaps a coarse thread sheet metal screw?) but it will work very well on a screen door.

They look like 1/4"x 20 ….. we would have to remove our braces to confirm.

The flat ends are too weak
I tried installing this on my shed door to help with some bowing in the wood. I got both ends screwed in, then started to turn the turnbuckle when the thin parts next to the screws just gave out and snapped from the pressure of the turnbuckle. It's a good concept but it's very poorly made and I can't trust it'll handle the pressure from the turnbuckle for long. Best to find something else.

I built a 49" wide door that bowed at the bottom, both ends. I used one turnbuckle on one corner and the other on the other corner and it pulled it perfectly straight! Very pleased! I will be buying two more soon to fix the other door.
