Q:Are the rings that surround the stile to attach the rung on this version of the ladder metal or plastic like the ones with a lower weight capacity???
by|Nov 10, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  All of the couplings ( the rings that surround the stiles and attach to each rung) on the NEW ANSI rated Telescoping ladders made by Xtend+Climb are made of a Nylon 66 Glass Blend. Which when subjected to flucuations in tempatures have the ability to expand and contract. In additon all of our ladders are in the HomeSeries (750P+, 760P+ 770P+) are rated ANSI Type1 250 lb load capacity. We no longer manufacter telescoping ladders with the metal( AL) couplings.

Okay, I like this ladder! The best part is how the XTEND + CLIMB 15.5 FT. ALUMINUM TELESCOPING EXTENSION LADDER folds up no neatly into a small package for easy storage. Right out of the box, it's a tiny bit stift -- elongation and retraction are not super smooth -- it took me forever to get it back to its smallest size. But it was okay. The feet on the ladder are awesome! And it seems sturdy! But a 250 pound limit? That means I can only use this ladder wearing my boxers. No one wants to see that. Maybe it's time to teach the wife how to change out the exterior lights.

The XTEND + CLIMB 15.5 ft. Aluminum Telescoping Extension Ladder with 250 lbs. Load Capacity Type I Duty Rating is a good ladder. In my line of work we use ladders all the time of many different varieties. I have the earlier version of this ladder and it has seen it share of work over the years. By comparison, I like the angled rungs better than the older box style, it is much more comfortable on my feet when I am on the ladder for a long time. If I need a standoff I use the Werner basic style, I turn the ladder around with the locking buttons facing the wall to use the standoff, that way it does not interfere with the locking mechanism. The downfall is, with the ladder turned around the angled rungs will bother your feet after a while. The Werner quicklock standoff bottom bracket is just slightly too narrow to slide over the angled rungs otherwise it would be a good choice, as neither one would affect the tubes. This ladder design sees more variety of work than the average person would ever think of. Painting a 2 story entryway, just run the ladder up and do your thing, can't get a regular ladder into that kind of narrow space.

If you are a contractor that has limited space in your work truck then this ladder is a must have. It is a work piece that can extend to 15.5' but only takes up around 3' when transporting or storing. It's definitely heavy duty but also easy to carry around. Obviously it telescopes so it can adjust to any length you need. The matte black finish also makes this ladder look good. Get this ladder. You won't be disappointed.

The XTEND+CLIMB telescoping ladder is a portable, extension ladder weighting approximately 39 pounds. I was very surprised how well constructed this ladder is made. It is the easiest way to get a 16' extension ladder almost anywhere. Before using this ladder read all the instructions! This ladder is the first ladder that I have owned that telescopes. I have owned several ladders that either fold up or extend to their designed height. This ladder extends so easily and so smoothly that it will amaze you every time you use it. It has a Velcro strap that keeps it closed, very simple but effective. The sections slide open and closed with amazing ease and smoothness. You start from the bottom and slide up each section you need. It automatically locks and shows a green indicator that it is properly locked. Nothing you have to do so extension is fast and easy. When it is time to collapse the ladder again, you simply release each section in reverse order. It collapses on its own when you push the two latches inward. Caution: Keep your fingers away from between the rungs when closing. However, if you collapse the sections out of order, the section only drops half way until you collapse the section above it. The rungs are strong aluminum and angled to make standing more comfortable. When reaching your desired height lean the ladder only with the top end of the rungs against a firm structure, NEVER against the stiles. This could damage the stiles. When carrying the ladder replace the “securing Velcro strap” making sure that the strap is tight and securely fastened, if not the ladder will open. This the perfect extension ladder for transporting in your car or pickup truck and storage is a snap.

This is the first ladder of this type used/owned. It’s convenient for transporting in just about any vehicle. This ladder is a contractor series. It has a 250lb weight limit. It extends easily. There is a definitive click and green dot indicators on each side to indicate it is locked into place. The first time retracting the ladder was done with extra caution since the full extension collapses when releasing the locking mechanisms. It does fall. I’m not certain why, the first length that collapses it only goes half way. All the others fall to complete recess. When the length below that one is collapsed then both recess. Just maintain keeping hands below and on the clips when collapsing the ladder to prevent injury. The ladder is stout yet it does sort of bend when climbing. If you have a fear or heights or climbing ladders then it takes a little time to get used to. The feet on the bottom have raised rubber grips that prevent sliding on smooth surfaces. When not in use a hook and loop strap, attached to the ladder, is used when in storage for easily transporting the ladder without it accidentally extending. Overall it’s a nice ladder to have. Doesn’t take a lot of room to store like most standard extension ladders. It comes with a flier that shows available accessories. It does offer a durable storage bag but it’s a little pricey. It states on the paperwork that it is “designed in America.” I didn’t notice where it was made but from that information it may not be made in America. The quality of the ladder seems solid.

At 66 years old i am done hauling around big heavy tools. This ladder is amazing, running around 40 lbs i can easily handle it and it feels so much more secure. It is super easy to move and has a wonderful padded grip on it so i can just tuck it under my arm. Tried to take a pic of that. It aslo has amazing feet on it so it won't slip when you are on it. Each step opens and locks individually and the steps are wider than my old ladder giving even more security . I saw a pro roofer using one of these and he let me pick it up, truly a step ahead in safety and so much easier to move! You can also purchase a bag for it if you are inclined. Great ladder and worth every penny!

This is a fantastic, highly portable, extension ladder. Let me say right off the bat that it is a little heavy. Almost 38 pounds. I was surprised but when I see the stout and quality construction, I know why. It is still the easiest way to get a 16' extension ladder almost anywhere. It has a Velcro strap that keeps it closed. Very simple but effective. The sections slide open and closed with amazing ease and smoothness. You start from the bottom and slide up each section you need. It automatically locks and show a green indicator that it is properly locked. Nothing you have to do so extension is fast and easy. When i is time to collapse the ladder again, you simply release each section in reverse order, keeping your hands out of the way! It collapses on its own when you push the two latches. If you collapse out of order the section only drops half way until you collapse the section above it. The rungs are strong aluminum and angled to make standing more comfortable. They are not a huge rung but no extension ladder is. If you need to transport an extension ladder in your car or an RV, this is the ladder for you.

I fully admit that I love gadgets. I love it when engineers come up with new ways to do things that are common and make them extremely practical. And every once in a while, I'm completely amazed by a new concept. This ladder is one of those times. Okay, first of all it telescopes, which mreans a lot of ladder weight is in a small space. It feels a little heavy when you pick it up, but go pick up ANY 15 foot ladder and you'll see they simply have to have a certain amount of weight to be stong enough to hold you up there while you clean out the gutters or whatever. And don't be concerned, you can still pick this up with one arm. The coolest part is how you extend it. It would seem like it's going to be a mess to fool around with, but fear not - this ladder extends so easily and so smoothly that it will amaze you every time you use it. If sometimes you only need 10 feet of ladder, then just extend it out 10 feet (1 foot at a time, in case you're wondering). If you need 12 feet, extend 12 feet. Or go all the way up to the full 15.5 feet! It's truly cool to work with this ladder! I did two jobs that needed doing but I didn't feel like hauling out my ladders to do them as soon as I took this ladder out of the wrapping! It was that easy! Now I have to make note of a concern I had with these ladders, that being that when you take them down they look a whole like like a guillotine coming down on your fingers! Fear not! Prepare to be amazed! When you click the release buttons for each step, they don't allow the step to come ALL the way down to anywhere near your fingers. They only come down HALF WAY! No guillotine! It's completely safe and fool-proof! When you release the NEXT step, the previous step comes all the way down, but the step your fingers are closest to are once again protected. I don't know how the mechanism works, I just know it's totally GREAT! I included a photo of how the step only comes down half way, but you'll want to do this for yourself and be amazed like I am. Let's talk about safety and function for a minute. This is a TYPE 1 ladder, heavy duty by design. I love the super tough feet the manufacturer provided with this ladder. It has a 250 pound load capacity... I'm 260 and I felt completely safe up on this ladder. I love this ladder... sometimes 5 stars aren't enough, so let's go with 5 PLUS stars for this ladder! Oh, I almost forgot... I miss my old pick up which was completelly easy to haul big ol' ladders around in. I can put this bad boy IN MY TRUNK! I mean, WOW! If you're a building inspector or something like that, you're gonna LOVE this ladder. The second day I had this I put it in my trunk and went over to my son's house and did a little gutter job. I put it... in MY TRUNK! How cool is THAT?

I ordered the XTEND + CLIMB Telescoping Ladder since it could be transported easily as well as be used in some tight areas that would be hard to get a regular extension ladder into. This ladder meets both of those needs. It collapses to 36 1/2 inches which allows it to be hauled in most any vehicle, yet it extends to 16 1/2 feet. It has a very innovative design, although the instructions aren’t very clear. It will require some practice and experimenting to understand how to raise and lower the ladder correctly and safely in different scenarios. When each rung is extended it latches on both sides of the step. A green indicator confirms it is locked. It lowers back down one step at a time. Care must be taken to not have any part of the hand in between the steps when this comes down. The latches on the first two rungs use a different kind of latch. Instead of depressing them they must be rotated, and they don’t easily release under pressure. If left until last and lifted slightly they release easily. This is another place to watch for any pinch points. There is one main drawback to this ladder. According to the directions only the top step can contact the wall in order to not to damage the stiles (side tubes). With this restriction this ladder wouldn’t be able to extend the 3 foot or more required to safely access a roof, thus requiring a different ladder. I would recommend this to those who could work within these limitations.

I have yet to see/use such a cleverly designed ladder. My choice was the CS155+/250 model from EXTEN+CLIMB .This is a contractor grade ladder with 250 lb capacity and up to 15.5 foot length when fully extended. It is nice to have one ladder for almost any job I will encojnter. If I need just 8 foot of reach, it's easy to just extend to my desired length. A comfortable foam hand grip and Velcro strap make storing and moving it easy. It does weigh 40 lbs, but it is massive and sturdy. I feel safe with the wide steps, large grip on the feet, and the sturdy lock mechanism on each section.
