Our new Rheem hybrid heat pump WH is wickedly loud, and seems to penetrate the whole one-story ho...

Asked by Sleepy1 March 25, 2021

Sleepy1, If you are hearing this on the other side of your house, i would tend to think this might be a low frequency problem as lower frequencies tend to penetrate walls much more than high frequency. Our products work best in the medium to high frequency range. That being said if you want to give our products a try. I would put it on the adjoining wall of the garage and house. You could also be getting a resonance type effect from the heater as well. Where the noise is bouncing around the garage. (like when your in a restaurant and you can't hear the person next to you. This is noise bouncing around) A foam or soft material on the opposite wall could help reduce the noise and absorb it. I would not put our materials or any materials directly on the heat pump. Mike

Can I install this in between a drywall? I share a wall in a townhome and can hear my neighbor.

Asked by Laliga December 7, 2020

Yes this can be installed behind drywall. That is the most common application we have. You should also look for shared penetrations on this wall.ie outlets, wall switches and ducting. These are areas for sound to penetrate through. You can using our acoustic putty behind the outlets to seal these areas up. If you don't fix this, anything you do with adding Sound Safe barrier could be short circuited. You might also want to look at our new Soundsafe Home kit. This kit allows you to use our current SoundSafe product and apply it like a wall paper. You can then paint over it. It is simple to do and effective. Item # is 7102-Homekit-8. Each panel is 24" wide, you would need to order enough to cover the entire wall.. Mike

Can this product be wiped down for cleaning? Will it work on hen house interior walls for rooster...

Asked by Lynn October 24, 2020

Lynn, It can be cleaned fairly easily with soap and water. Household cleaners work well. Never been asked about hen house use. However i imagine it could work well in the application. It works well for medium to high frequency noise. Which is where much of the Rooster's roosts lie. If all you have is a wood slat wall now. There will be a noticeable difference. Mike

Asked by Troy September 18, 2020

Yes. This product can be painted. I would recommend a primer go up first. Mike

What do you recommend for sound proofing ?Is there anything that can cut off sound coming out of a room ?

Asked by Nathan June 27, 2020

Hi Nathan, there are many variables when it comes to sound reduction between rooms, condos etc...Think of sound like water...if there is a way to get through, it will. SoundSafe is designed to reduce many frequencies between walls, that being said, remember that areas such as vents and electrical sockets will also transmit sound waves. Using acoustic pads (coming soon!) around your outlets and insulation around vents will also greatly diminish sound transference.

Do you install this on the dry wall or can it be somehow applied on a finished wall?

Asked by Yp June 26, 2020

This product can be applied to a finished wall and painted over. For a room with echoes you will want to use a product that absorbs not blocks sound. Try hanging art or an area rug in the room. Mike

It will not gas off. You should not notice an odor when it is installed. Mike

Asked by Mel May 12, 2020

This product is made to reduce the noise coming through your wall. This will greatly help with sound transmission due to conversations. It won't be complete, but will help significantly reduce it. Mike

Why should I use the Fire Rated version of your product vs. your standard product?

Asked by CABuild April 6, 2020

SoundSafe Acoustic Barrier FR (Fire Rated) has been fire tested to meet stringent fire test requirements and is Class A rated. It passed the E84 Tunnel test which means it shows very low flame spread and low smoke density.

Worked Well for Noisy Laundry Room
I used it at my parent's apartment in NYC. We hung it in the laundry room. It helped to quiet the dryer. Very heavy but it worked well.

Noise? What noise?
Nothing is worse than hearing complaints from neighbors about noises from my Condo. Worse is hearing the noise they make. I realized many years ago I can't control my neighbors but I can control the sounds coming form my neighbors. When the time came to replace my aging sound deadening material I was very surprised to see the advancements and the choices. I really shopped the options and settled on this SoundSafe product. Being that I can't control the neighbors, fire protection is a feature that I decided I can not do without. Installing and cutting: This was an easy product to install. Cutting it and sizing it was pretty straight forward. Quality: The quality is top notch. I was very impressed with the way it feels, looks and functions. I feel like the claims made by the manufacturer are on point. Performance: This is the kind of product that when it is working you do not know it is working. After all if you do not hear the tree fall in the forest then as far as you are concerned it did not fall. It's been a couple of weeks but so far I am very pleased with the product. I am hearing very little of my neighbors comings and goings. It is better than what I replaced. It took a couple of days to do the replacement and I could really hear the difference when the old material came down. Especially on the shared walls. I do not have anyone living above me but the shared wall can be disturbing at times. So far, since install I am hearing little to nothing, I used to hear conversations, now I hear nothing.
