How thick are the walls?

Answer

I think that's what the "16 ga" in the title references. It's thick enough to keep its shape through normal usage, wear and tear, etc, but thin enough to keep the weight down. I cut mine down to 6 feet, and it's still easy to handle and hang. I've been using it daily for several years now without issue.

Would this work to hold up one end of a hammock? If not, which kind and how tall?

Asked by Judith March 22, 2019

Answers

I would not use this for a hammock support. This is meant to be installed vertically, and would thus be easily bent/bowed by use over time, or distorted in a short time by the application of excessive weight on the hammock. A frame built for use with a hammock would be much safer and longer lasting.

I used these to create a 6’ screen wall between my neighbors trash cans and my kitchen window. Worked great! Wished I would have ordered the caps for the exposed end.

I needed a good sturdy pole to repair my flag pole which broke and blew over. I simply slid the bent flag pole into the fence post and it is more sturdy than when we took it out of the box. It can now withstand gale force winds.
