Questions & Answers

How far do you put the posts? I have seen 6 feet, but mostly every 10 feet...

Trying to determine how many posts, the project is a big one (about 2 acres rectangle)...
Asked by: 21oliver
Depends on the length of your top rails, I would say 8 or 10" but since HDs top rails are only 10'6" I would recommend every 8'. 6' is overkill.

is it true that the lower number gauge is thicker that the higher number? In other words is 9 gauge a heavier material than the 11.5 gauge?

Asked by: jaym
Yes, lower the number the stronger the metal.

I need a front gate whats the price

Have chainlink fence
Asked by: Barbie
This all depends on the type of front gate that you need because there are many different types and sizes. We would recommend these to match your height of 6 ft.: 328304A 3283AD72 Thank You, Jennifer Customer Care

Not at all like the old chain link we new as kids with one side twisted so it could not be separated. This stuff just has bent over edges at top and bottom that catch the roll as you try to unroll it. Many of the connections are not fully closed but I found you could close them (or open them) with bare hands. A couple of strands actually fell out of my fence while unrolling. The guys who handle this stuff with fork lifts must have contests to see who can inflict the most damage. I had to go to a second HD to find a reasonably useable roll. I think this will probably keep my dog enclosed in the yard, and delineate the lot line but it certainly is not security fencing. Anyone who wanted in, could do so with only bare hands. As someone else said, I could not stretch 50' out of my roll. I wish there was a choice of a better product at HD, even at substantially higher price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT 50 FEET!! I understand that a 2x4 isn't actually 2x4 but wouldn't you assume that a 6'x50' fence, that actually measures 6ft high, would be 50ft long? WRONG. These rolls are 48 1/2 ft long. So, I'm paying guys extra for working on a Saturday, to do a 98 ft stretch. They install it and we're 3ft short, with 2 rolls of 50ft chain link. I called store and they had the audacity to tell me that I'd have to either spend another $80 on another roll or have my guys uninstall it and return it. So, let me get this straight... i've already paid my guys to install it, and now i'm supposed to pay them to Uninstall it? And then what? Have no fence?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 11.5-gauge Galvanized Steel Chain Link I'm installing my fence myself and at 69 years young don't find it to difficult. The install has went well until almost finished. The rolls are not quite 50' as others have mentioned, and if only a few feet are needed to finish you will be require to buy another full roll...... and then do what with the other 40+ feet. Too bad HD couldn't sell shorter sections or by the foot.

I purchased from store (many have discussed poor quality when delivered to their home) and the fence link fabric was in good condition. I also only needed 65’ and purchased two 50’ rolls so did not have a problem with length after lengthening one 50’ piece with 15’ of the other. I would buy again.
