3.25 in. x 2.5 in. Cast Metal Combination Gate Lock

This is a solidly built, well designed gate latch system. It allows keyless access to the yard from either side. I have love it! It was easy to install and set up.

I just installed this product last week. Really like it. Had a hard time because my fence doesnt match up to my post quite right (2x4 added) so sort of had to reverse install this. Also gate swings out which was a little challenging. Really cool though. Easy install after i figured it out. Also installed it in an outdoor outlet box.

It was easy to install and was working perfectly for a few months. Then the screws in the box which used fix the metal wire is getting loose and door not able to open by pooling the box. The design is too fragile. I wish they use bigger screws or some other ways to tighten the wire.

Purchased two of these for the gates on both sides of my house. They are heavier than I had anticipated and should hold up well in weather. Installed using instructions. Installation process is relatively easy with the proper tools and when following the included instructions. I took the advice I found in a review and installed the gate locks in external, heavy duty, weatherproof 1 gang receptacle outlet covers to protect them from rain and help them last longer. (see pics). Everything worked as per instructions. Changed the codes from their default and I am good to go.

I was looking for a lock for my yard gate so that it will be easy for my gardeners to enter and for us to use painlessly from inside and outside. Most of the locks for the yard cannot be opened from inside if it is locked from the outside. A combination lock like this was the ideal solution. And unlike someone complained that it can be only used on a gate which opens inside, it can be easily used on a gate which opens outside as long as the gate has a frame and the lock is attached to the gate frame instead of the post. Although the quality of manufacturing and the build of the lock is excellent (it is fully metal body), I found two main issues - one with the instruction about angling the hole in the post to make it centered on the outside. I found that making the hole at an angle makes the locking mechanism to tilt badly to one side and get jammed. It works best if the hole through the post is at right angle and the locking lever moves straight. For me once I made the hole at angle, I had to enlarge the hole in a conical shape to avoid getting the locking lever getting stuck. The other problem is that the hole in the screw posts which holds the metal wire for opening is too small. It is like threading a needle where the thread is too thick to go through the needle eye. There is no reason to make the hole in the screw post so small as even with a wider hole the screw will hold the wire properly just like in any electrical connector. I had to strip of few threads from the wire to get the wire pass through the screw post hole. But after the installation was done properly, it worked great and has become very convenient - I do not have to make keys for the gardener, and if I change the gardener, I just have to change the lock combination - no need to change actual locks. Moreover, if I need to leave the house key for someone, I can use this as a lock box just for that purpose. But for installation issue I had to take out one star from the rating.

The Yard Lock is a great way to secure your side gate without having to resort to padlocks, while still allowing you to have the convenience of opening the latch from both sides. The installation was very easy, but I did have to contact customer support - this product could have benefited greatly from more user input prior to production. There were a few issues: 1) The included mounting hardware was of poor quality and I understand it has since been replaced at the manufacturing level, however my unit was shipped with the old hardware. 2) The instructions do not represent the production changes made to improve the product - I had to call tech support because the design was different mounting the cable than what was described in the instructions. 3) The combination cover (see attached photo) usually hangs in the open position because the cover is plastic and is not secured properly to the body of the lock. The small tab on the cover is grossly inadequate to keep the cover secured 4) The latch hardware is "light weight" and the cable is crimped to the latch hardware in the package. Most people have an existing latch which fits your gate - this product would greatly benefit from having the capability to attach the cable to your existing gate latch. I had to modify the cable to attach to my existing heavy weight latch (see attached photo). This was an easy process but not something most people would be comfortable with or find the necessity to do.

I have 2 gates to my backyard and live alone. My fear was needing to exit my house into the backyard, and getting trapped there because previously the gates were locked from the outside. I installed these locks on both gates and can now use the code to open the gates from the front yard, quickly and easily, and simply open the latch from the backyard to exit. It gives me great peace of mind and a sense of security at the same time.
